3AM propane/co2 monitor alarm
At 3 this morning the propane and CO2 monitor went off.
Only thing I could do was remove it from the wall and pull one of the wires out to stop it from alarming. I did notice the button to reset it was missing although I could get to the interior button with a screwdriver, it still would not reset? Perhaps dust go inside and caused it to alarm? No propane on anywhere.

Are you plugged in to shore power? If not a low battery can set off the alarm.

They always go off in the wee hours of the morning!
How old is your unit? I don't see a date, but those monitors do have to be replaced at some point.

That's right. I think they are supposed to be good for 5 years.

On shore power, just over a year old 5th wheel (2016), thanks for the Atwood support link. I've contacted them and will see their response. Interestingly on another RV repair site the guy said that when propane is detected it is supposed to turn off the propane to the unit. Mine however did not?

Last fall mine went off so I just figured that one of the tanks was empty. Went outside and switched to the other tank and the alarm kept going off. Never thought it could be the derector. My unit is a 2017 Eagle HT although we bought it last year.

How would that work? The detector would have to be connected to some kind of electrical servo to control a valve on the propane system?
Granted, I haven't been over every inch of my propane system, but I certainly have not seen anything like that on my trailer. And no member here has ever mentioned anything like that as far as I've seen.
As was mentioned, these detectors do have a "shelf life". And there could be some problem with your 12V system that's not allowing the detector to get the voltage it requires? They tend to go off when the battery gets too low; I hear them in my storage lot all the time.

Middle of the night seems to be the norm on these alarms. My first was at Bristol Tn at Bob's campground near the speedway. Alarm awoke me at 2 am in a groggy and confused state. Problem was open windows [no AC] and neighbors on 3 close sites running generators all night for their AC. Life saver. 2nd was a freak situation when wind direction apparently caused fumes from the water heater to push back into the TT cabin. Switched to the electric water heat mode, problem averted.
These alarms will not shut off the flow of propane, they simply alert you to a potential serious problem. These units do malfunction and should not be ignored. In my Bristol situation I made a trip to Walmart the next day and purchased a 2nd Co detector just to make sure I had double protection for the 2nd nite at this CG.
Was your alarm a Co detector or the Propane gas detector?
