50 or 30 amp service
We just ordered an Eagle Ht 26.5 RLS and one of the options was 50 amp service and pre-wired for an additional A/C. We have no use for an additional
A/C. What would be the advantage to have 50A hookup. We have always had 30A in our current 5th wheel with no issues.

The big benifit would be able to run the microwave, ac and the electric fireplace all at once
Downfall, do you camp at places that have 50 amp service? The places around me, it is hit and miss. Means you could have 30 amp at the post. Then you need to adapt down, and it would be like your old 5ver.

It may add a little to the resale value if the next owner wanted 2 ac's.

I have read about a lot of folks that wish they would have added the extra AC. Just a thought. A lot easier and cheaper to add it prior then regret and add later.

Order it with 50 amp. You can always get a plug adapter and run it on 30 amp if you need.

I have a Y that allows me to draw 30amps from one outlet, then I can draw another 30amps if available on poll, if not I can plug into a 20amp service and get some additional power, So far we have had no issues with plugging our MH into 30amp service even thou we have 50amp on board. The advantage of having the 50 amp is that you can find other ways of adding some additional power. works for us.

X3!
It's always better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it! Every camper we've owned has, at one weekend or another, needed extra cooling capacity!

+1 to both of these.
My trailer came with "2nd AC Prep", and I certainly wish I had added an AC unit. OTOH, I can see how it might not be a benefit in some regions. Not everyone camps ON THE SUN for 4 months out of the year like we do! LOL!!
If you have 2nd AC Prep, and thus have 50A service, there is really no harm in adapting down to 30A. We do it frequently and have never had a problem running everything we need at the same time (though we don't have a fireplace, but if we did, the AC would NOT be running at the same time as the heater in the fireplace).
One advantage is that many rigs historically have been equipped with 30A service, and so the 30A service in many place is ... "well worn". If your trailer is 50A equipped, you can use the ... "less abused" 50A outlet. In my experience, this has made a difference. Sometimes the 30A service looks terrible and the socket is loose, while the 50A socket practically still has dielectric grease on it from when it was manufactured!
Over time, as more rigs come 50A equipped, this will become less of an advantage, but I'll take it while I can.

The only regret I have when I ordered my 2015 Eagle was not getting 50amps and a 2nd A/C.

My fifth wheel has two A/C units (a 15k and a 13.5k), and I wish it had three units.
A friend of mine has a DRV with three A/C units. His camper stays a lot cooler during the day than mine does.

I have 50 amp service on my Eagle but I use a 30 amp cord 90 percent of the time as it is much easier to handle. I only use my 50 amp cord when I need both airs or are going to be in one location for extended periods.

I would opt for the 50 amp service as I have never said nor heard anyone say "I wish I had less power".

If we have 50amp at the pedastal we use it...for us it really doesn't make sense to put a dog bone on to go down to 30amp.
Get one of these....
Makes life a lot easier.
Safe travels.

I have a 25 foot 50 to 30 amp adapter cord. No dog bone required. It is light and easy to use.
