9/16" lock nut
Yesterday when I opened up the enclosed underbelly looking for the water leak on my new 26BH, the first thing I found was a shiny, new 9/16" lock nut lying there on the covering and it is identical to the ones that are holding up the water tank support bars.
The two 42 gallon fresh water tanks are 2/3 full and I didn't see any sagging supports, but somehow I'm still uneasy.
Now I feel like I really need to find where this nut came from, but it will most likely be like looking for a needle in a haystack.

It might have been dropped during production and they usually just grab another one.

It must have fallen down after the under belly was enclosed, hopefully as Grumpy said it was dropped during production. Could you borrow a inspection camera from a friend and inspect the tank straps?

I actually had one side of the underbelly enclosure down yesterday. I could only see some of the bolts that hold the tanks, but all I could see had nuts on them and were tight.
The "straps", which appear to be 3/16" or 1/4" thick, 2 1/2" wide steel, all seem to be in place and none are hanging down. I'll be taking the other side down either today or tomorrow since that's where my slow water leak is located.
As long as I'm digging around in there I may as well investigate.

I'm sure you will feel better knowing the straps are secure. Keep us posted.

This would seem to be the case. I've found a couple of loose screws that just appeared after a trip in places that I regularly inspect and there is no obvious use for them in those areas. They get dropped at the factory and eventually bounce out someplace where they can be reached.

Keep in mind that all these nuts, bolts and screws are driven with power tools not by hand. Odds are if it was actually used you would see some tool marks on the flat surfaces and assuming it is a nylon style lock nut you would see thread marks. If you looked it over it should be clear if this is a nut dropped or if it worked itself loose. Odds are a lock nut wouldn't work itself loose so it more than likely was dropped and they grabbed a spare.

+1
I don't throw fasteners away unless they are damaged to the point of uselessness. I find "extras" all the time, all over the place. And there have been times in my life when my "extras" supply has dwindled and I've had to actually buy fasteners!

I'm sure now that it's just an extra. Everything I saw under there looked well secured.
