A very sad day in central florida

25 years have passed since I had my mid-life crisis. I had a mistress and have kept her ever since. The wife was not too fond of her, but she left us alone. We went through a lot, and yes through the years I spent a LOT of money buying her things. We traveled down a lot of the back roads in northern Illinois, so as not to be noticed. For fun she would let me cruse down those empty farm roads at 145 miles an hour and she always wanted to go faster, never complaining. There were times that I neglected her, but she always enjoyed it when I would pull the covers off of her and I would take her out and have everyone staring at her.

Well, here it is 25 years later and she looks so much better than the day I met her. I will truly miss her, but I am sure that she will enjoy her time with someone else behind the wheel, as she turns 50 next year. Yes, I sold my 1965 Mustang today. May we all can share a minute of silence as we look at her picture below. (Insert digital artificial tears here...) I guess now I will have to change my User ID. Maybe it should be X-Mustang65? Not!!!

Well it is just about time to pack up the camper and head to Nashville and Georgia's Blue Ridge Mtn's.

Don

The mistress is in the middle!

Our camping friends have a 66 mustang and it is a nice car as well. Must have been a hard decision to see her go.

That is surely a beauty. I love the older Mustangs and have always wanted one. But they have been out of my reach. We have a Model T, that I have been slowly restoring, but always drive when the weather is good. We have talked about in our older years, to buy a toy hauler and take the T around the country on our travels. Dreams way off in the distances.

Oh my, I can't imagine that empty space in the garage, nor the absence of a therapy session. Tough call but no doubt one thought out

That's a nice one Mustang65....I had a few cars break my heart, too. The pain gets less with time.

My late husband had a 1968 TR250 Triumph, He owned from new, redid the motor, all he had to do is paint it, never did, sat in the garage or storage area for 30 yrs, after he died I found a new home for it, It is living over on Vancouver island, I put some air in the tires and it just ran up the trailer to be taken to a new home.
That was a sad day. A new lease on life.

I feel your pain... I have folders of digital pictures of the ones that got away (cars) and most of them hurt way more than any women that got away. But, we have our reasons for letting them go... my reasons come in the form of a 3yo boy and a 5yo girl - they mean more to me than any car ever did! An old friend from the car scene was trying to talk me into another one just the other day, and I told him no way - I would much rather spend the money taking my family camping - the pics of my kids when we climb a mountain, see a waterfall, or ride a steam train are priceless!

Not quite the same Mustang65, but I definetly know what you are feeling. I'm struggling to let go of my own 85 GT, last of the Carburators.
I'm close...but not quite there yet.

My two most favorite Rides I've ever had. I did 13.7 in the Quarter Mile and won 3 back-to-back-to-back Bracket Racing Titles with her :-)

I'm sure several of us have been or will be in the same boat. We loved camping so much, that I sold the '08 convertible Shelby GT500. But hey, I sold it for $500 more than I paid for it. I miss it, but I'm enjoying the memories with my family more!
