Acadia

The DW and I just published our second article about Acadia National Park on the Jayco Journal. If you are an Acadia fan, or plan on heading up there we have some solid recommendations. Please check it out!

Thanks for the blog. Wife and I are hitting the east coast in 3 years for our 30th anniversary and Acadia is on our list.

My wife and I will be married 30 years in 3 years as well, but we are trying to get to Acadia next week! But now that you mentioned it, I am going to start planning the 30 year trip...thanks for the idea!

Reservations to visit Acadia NP

https://www.pressherald.com/2018/04/...vation-system/

Its getting too overcrowded. Not only may you need reservations to camp you may need reservations to visit the Park come 2020

NPS is soliciting customer comments on the proposed management plan. There is a link in the above Portland Press Herald article.

Its rather unfortunate the NPS didn't proofread their map.. Jordan Pond House and Ocean Drive corridor are reversed in labeling.

Interesting article, thanks! Heading there in early June.

BTW, the link to Thurston's is either incorrect or out of date. These days it's actually "thurstonforlobster.com".

Enjoy that lobstah!

Things change. The park has become incredibly crowded in the last few years. I would not go forth without a reservation.. Bar Harbor Campground is NOT always available. If you want to try , have a back up plan. Visitation is up about 20 percent from that 2014 blog.

It is not necessary to stay near Bar Harbor..Consider Bass Harbor Campground and use the Island Explorer Transit System. Free.

Parking in Bar Harbor is such a headache that although we are pretty local we avoid it in the summer July- Mid Sept.

even Schoodic Woods is fully booked. And that is a 45 minute drive to Bar Harbor
