I'm going to do the roof first. I don't think I have any bad spots. But there are some places that look about due for another application.

Will do.

I would agree, this shouldn't happen on on trailer that's only a few years old. You would think they could a least run a bead of caulking around them.

Repairs are almost complete, the wall panels are in and we will pick them up on Saturday. The parts dept described the panels as a creamy color which may be a close match. And I was able to track down an electric staple gun that shoots the 3/16" x 9/16" 22ga wire staples for the paneling at a local rental store

Hey Rick, you stated you got an estimate form your insurance. Did they cover the claim? I did call my insurance (State Farm also) and put in a claim. In the process of getting an estimate from the dealer.

I never did get an estimate and actually I canceled the claim this week because the repairs with the cost of materials and such was less than our $500 deductible. The next thing that will probably happen now is getting a knock on my door from one of the neighborhood council people wanting to know why it (camper) is in the driveway and when it will be moved

Ok...received the estimate from my dealer and it was at $2,600. I have $500 deductible. Sent the estimate to State Farm. Guess we will wait and see.

I wonder what the estimate would have been if the owner had laminate fiberglass siding.

Did not have to mess with the ceiling at all, the damage was caused by a leaky seal around the window. The roof was fine, no leaks but I did reseal some cracks in the sealant in places. In the future I will definitely be doing more roof and walk around inspections

Rick, Thanks for starting the thread :hihi: As mentioned previously I have/had a leak in my 5er. I did not even think of contacting my insurance until you mentioned it. The adjuster called yesterday and said that the repair of the damage is covered and I will be receiving a check.
Going to go by the dealer tomorrow to make sure they found the leak, repaired the leak and make plans for the replacement of the wall etc.

Good luck with the repairs and post what you find out because I am interested to see what the repairs were and the cost. Not counting new tools and such I got by with less than $400 for materials, the paneling freight is what gouged me big time

Dealer gave an estimate of around $2,600 to do the repair. Approximately $2,000 in labor and $600 in parts.
The dealership also found the damage worse than than I ha originally thought. At first it seemed to be just in one corner of the wall, but they have found soft spots/damage in other places on the wall. To correct it they say they have to replace the whole rear wall. I have already received the check, minus the deductible, from my insurance company.
But, I have decided to discuss with Jayco some more before I deposit the check. I still believe this is a manufacturing/factory problem and not a "user maintenance" issue that Jayco says it is. The dealership agrees with me, where they say it is leaking at is not in area normally maintained by the user.
