Hi all. Just returned to WI. from Alaska. Some notes. Wi, Mn, Nd, Mt, Id, Wa, BC, Ab, Yk, Ak and return. 10,415 miles,2 months, fueled up 65 times, 10.7 mpg average, lowest fuel cost, Nd. $1.99/gal, highest $5.74/gal in Jasper park (thats converted)
Full hook up 3 days, Electric hook up 8 days, All the rest no hook up or using our Honda 2000. Used commerical but mostly state, provincical, municipal and walmart campgrounds.Turtled every night except 2 nights in N.D. when we open the ends. Lowest temperature 37 degs in northern B.C. Trailer tires mfg 2011 about 1,000 miles on before we left. Goodyear Marathon ST185/80R13. 50 lbs pressure cold, checked frequently never over 65mph. No problems but I had 2 trailer spares with me just in case.
Silver salmon, Halibut, Copper river Red salmon all in the freezer. Met some really nice Alaskans and Canadians. Lots of details and pictures on our blog.

RV city!
The campground in Dyea is beautiful waterfront.About 7 miles out of Skagway AK Nice sites no hookups.
Also lots of campgrounds along the Alaska Highway. Dont miss Liard Hot Springs.. yes they are HOT!
We are going back next year
Dawson is an interesting town. The ferry runs 24/7
We did the drive with tent last time and paddled the Yukon and Teslin Rivers.. May do that again and stash trailer somewhere in Whitehorse.

nice trip and Looking forward to 1 like it
Hope it was as much fun as it sounded. Some good trip knowledge also. Sounds like we need a generator before we try it. Are there long runs between gas stops?? I max out at a little over 300 miles per tank depending more headwind than climbing. Can't wait until we get to take our northern journey.

More info on Alaska trip
Hi All. Regarding fuel when I reached 1/2 tank I tried not to pass a gas station. The extra 11 gals of gas that I carried was comforting. There are some long stretches and if it is night time some stations may be closed. The Mile Post book is a must and so is Travelers Guide To Alaskan Camping. Several visitor centers had free wifi and are usually a good source of info. We spent $746 for camping fees in 2 months. About $3,000 for gas (approximently) Didn't add it up yet. Oil and filter changes are expensive in Canada. You are right the genny is a must. We didn't need a.c. so the 2,000 Honda was perfect. As a U.S. citizen If you have to see a doctor in Canada it costs $100 U.S. currency but the meds are way cheaper.
I have a Equalizer wd hitch 6,000/600. I had airbags put on my truck. Installed a Rock Guard on the hitch. I weighed everything that went into the camper and the truck. Used a truck scale to check to see if I was in limits. When I get time I'll dig that info out. One of my sons said "Luck favors the prepared"
He was right!
