Any hints for desert boondocking

We will be taking our first Trailer drive cross country and spend some four weeks in Arizona and New Mexico. We will be mostly at BLM campgrounds with no services. We do have a generator and about 18 gal of cans that can carry auxiliary water. Some of the campsites do have dump stations.

Are there any hints especially re dealing with sand? We have a little 195 RB that we bought so we could cook inside. We have teardrop trailer friends who suffered cooking outside in a sandstorm.

We upgraded from a backpacking tent. I am tired of getting up off the ground at two am to go pee.
We get our unit tomorrow. The dealer will unwinterize it for inspection then rewinterize it!
Its still snowing. Our trip is mid April.

Congratulations on the new trailer and sleeping off the ground!

We had 'sand issues' this fall in Florida, but no blowing sand. We used 3 floor mats as I recall; 1 outside and 2 inside. Of course the sand had to be shaken off them quite often. Those reduced the amount of sand we tracked in, but didn't eliminate it.

VERY IMPORTANT: When getting into bed, wipe the sand off your feet!

I have sand issues at home and know well the importance of floor mats! But I was wondering more about blowing sand. We know from tenting in the Canyonlands that sand finds its way into everything.
We have some truck lining matting left over from winter tenting. It rolls up and now will have a new life!

I would guess when getting in the shower. wipe sand off your feet too!
