Anyone know if I can use my own WiFi Modem plugged into RV Park coax line?

This is probably an obviously dumb question and one that I should admittedly be able to puzzle out for myself - but I've been so deluged with (family) internet and cable TV issues today that I'm afraid I'm braindead.

Soooo....

Does anyone know if I can take this extra Arris (Motorola) Surfboard SBG901 Wireless Modem/Router I have kicking around, and use it on the road to plug into the coax cable line from a RV park for wifi around my rig? Or is it much more complicated than that? (Or perhaps one cannot use the incoming coax cable line for that purpose anyway since maybe it's been limited to cable TV programming alone?) (Maybe the reason I'm confused is because Cox here in the home uses the same coax for both TV and Internet. But since I years ago got rid of cable TV, I can't remember if they use the same coax line for Internet as well, or if there were two coax lines coming into the house, one for Internet and another for TV)

Any of that make sense? And is there a way to use this SBG901 this coming summer when we travel or should I just donate it to Goodwill?

Using your Surfboard SBG901 cable modem on a coax cable at the campground won't work. The modem would have to be provisioned (added and recognized) on the cable system to receive/utilize a network connection. Sorry. Your best bet is to use the campground WiFi (usually sucks) or get a cellular mobile data plan of your own. FreedomPop has some good offerings. Or check out the AT&T Mobley device.

Oh, also - a wifi booster/repeater sometimes helps when using campground WiFi.

Thanks. I kinda figured it couldn't be so easy! Already learned Cox won't let me re-use it as a simple way to extend my (weak) wifi to the other side of the house (yup, go figure! - they want you to sign up for a 2nd service line). So I guess Goodwill it is. Thanks again.

You could use a WiFi extender to improve coverage in the house and tell Cox to stuff it. I use two of these. TP-Link Dual Band WiFi Range Extender, AC1200 repeater with AP mode supported, Mini Housing Design, Extends WiFi to Smart Home & Alexa Devices (RE305) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N8ROH7G..._WRe5yb4EHDNRP

One for the house and one for the RV to boost the campground signals.
