Atn Photobucket Users- Pics Lost!!!

While I understand Photobucket has the right to update their policies and user agreements, the fact that any photo we (any users of pb) have posted here or any other "3rd party host", are now under "lock and key" unless you pay $400/yr for the package that includes 3rd party hosting is garbage!!!!

Using the phone app, I can no longer view any pics that have been posted u less I pay. So in order to re-save those pics on my phone it seems I can log in through their website, and download pic by pic.....

This policy update just happened 6/28 I think it was.

So any of us who have threads of our mods with pics hosted by pb have pictureless threads now!!!

If they want to charge a small fee, ok. I would be willing to pay something very reasonable, $10 or $20.... But $400/yr is crazy!!!!

Yes, I went and log in last night and download all of my pics back to my pc so I would have them, the plan is to cut them lose to delete my account and just post what pics I need to off of my pc.

Yes it is crazy but that's life in the big city.

We use icloud. So far a bargain at .99 a month for 50gb of pics and data storage.

I got the same notification from Photobucket. Will be deleting my account and as far as they are concerned, they will not receive any of my business again.

I dropped Photobucket and Flickr years ago, about the time that Flickr started required a log in with a Yahoo account that I don't have and don't plan to open. I went with a subscription host, Smugmug. I pay about $70 per year for hosting. I post to a number of different forums - golf, cooking, photography, and camping - so I'm hopeful that by paying a subscription, I won't have to deal with the vagaries of a so called "free" site.

I can link different sized images depending on need, I set up several galleries - could even sell stock images through them if I wanted to.

All you need is to buy the Plus 102 plan $99.00 a yr to link pics, it also gives you 102gb of storage.

Available Plus Account Plans : Photobucket offers the following Plus Account Plans:
o Plus 50 Plan: 52 GB of Storage for $59.99 / Year. The Plus 50 Plan does not allow any image linking or 3rd party image hosting.

o Plus 100 Plan: 102 GB of Storage for $99.99 / Year. The Plus 100 Plan allows for unlimited image linking but does not allow 3rd party image hosting.

o Plus 500 Plan: 500 GB of Storage and unlimited bandwidth for $399.99 / Year. The Plus 500 Plan allows for unlimited image linking and unlimited 3rd party image hosting.

Worst thing about this is that unless you go back with photobucket nothing will return and since we can't edit old posts they're all going to be useless.

Grumpy - according to photobucket's page you have to get the Plus 500 plan at $39.99 per month for 3rd party hosting. I know storage is 'expensive' but that cost is ridiculous!

I got a similar notice, but I have a paid account, so am good until January at which time they will take away the image hosting as well unless I step up to the higher level. I will be dropping pBucket as the only reason I'm there is for image hosting.

Does anyone have any ideas of a suitable replacement? Yes, you can keep your photos on the forum, but I participate in several different ones and prefer to keep my photos all managed in one location.

I will take a look at Imgur, but are there others to look at?

Not sure what is up but I was just going to start reposting my pics in my mods thread and all my pics are back.....

Haven't gotten in the pb app yet, so that's next!!!!

Bank,

Couple suggestions above. I don't have any experience with them, except google photos. So far it seems ok, but haven't tried linking a pic from there to a forum.
