I think you'll be fine Crabman. Centered or all to plug side either way you'll be good.
They're plenty bright.

I also have an 18 foot awning, I plan on centering it. If the cord doesn't reach then going to add an extension cord.

Another question. If I purchase 2 sets, can I cut 2 feet off the second set and connect it to the set on the awning, giving me my 18 feet? Then take the remaining 14 feet inside and put in my bunkhouse for the kids and grandkids.

krackeer,
I am not sure. I just looked at mine.
The LED strip was female on both ends and the power plug is a male connector.
I didn't see anything else in the box, but I thought you could plug multiple sets together up to 3.
You may end up with male/male.
Not very helpful lol, sorry

Well, after following this post for about a week now, I finally broke down and ordered a set of these from Amazon. Supposed to be here next Thursday. It's just too cool to pass up!

Re: Awning Lighting
Well thank you all for the comments, pics and videos. After reading this thread and seeing how many were purchasing them I just ordered a set for our TT. Can't wait for them to get here.

I just installed mine on my 31FS, I have about 5 feet left over. I think this is a very cool addition. Pics to follow...

They do make splice kits for these LEDs and are easily found on Amazon. Unfortunately, they are not as waterproof as the actual LED strips. I have seen them used for indoors but never in an environment like a RV awning. My awning was only ~14' so i was able to do it in one set. Best of luck if you try the splices.
One additional note... You will definitely want to get the solder ones, i used the solder-less connectors in my kitchen and i am not very satisfied with the performance of the connections.

I tested out how the lights will look at night and where I may want to install them. I have decided to install under the awning/gutter bracket against the trailer facing down. By doing this, the lights will be able to be used with the awning open and closed. I will drill a hole big enough to put the end through the TT into a cabinet and wire into a 12V source once inside. here is a pic testing the placement. They look overkill with brightness in the pic, but in person look pretty darn good.

That looks really good. I can wait to hear how well they hold up over the next year. If they are up to the task i want to add a second set located in the same place. Maybe by then i won't so scared to drill holes in the side of our camper. Best of luck!!

Awning Lighting
I was initially nervous to drill holes in too, but after really checking things out, doing some mods and looking at the holes jayco has drilled, I see no difference in the holes I put in over the holes they've made. The only difference, I'll be a little more generous with the sealant I use.

I ordered a second set. I think I am going to put one on the awning tube and one on the sidewall below the awning.

I think I'll do the same later this summer.
That way you have best of both worlds.
Are you going to do anything special to keep adhesive from letting go at some point?
Maybe a 1" strip of Eternabond Tape on each end?
Doug

My buddy who has had his up going on almost 2 years simply bought some clear shipping tape. He said it is holding up well. He was just down last week and he says it is still in place. His is on the awning tube.

I installed the light strip on the awning (I have to 115vts. but when we get home I'm going to set it up with a 12vt. receptacle. Thinking cigarette lighter plug type ) Wanted to post a couple of pictures to show how it looks

Looks great, thanks. Which kit did you actually purchase and what color is in the first picture, blue? I'm assuming that white would be the brightest color since it requires all the LED's to be on at the same time.
I have two of the sets linked in a post in this thread and plan to install them on our campers in a week or two. I may buy an extension cable because it looks like you can run a cable through the same path that the wire for the power awning runs along the arms.

This is the one I bought.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ASHQQKI/..._M3T1_ST1_dp_1
$26.98, looks like the same components as the $38 ones.
$30.01 including shipping.
