now that I bought these and they arrive tomorrow I have to wonder, Do they have a dimming option or are they full bright all the time?

To answer all the questions at once. They can be set for any color that you want and it will stay that color. You can choose from different levels of brightness clear down to barely on. As far as connecting them together, most sets will come with a little connector that is basically 4-male pins sticking out from each side that will allow you to plug in another set. No soldering/splicing required. I believe I've heard that you can connect 3 or 4 sets together before you have to start putting repeaters in because the signal from the controller won't travel any farther than that.

Mine came in, they have 3M adhesive on the back and the strip seems a bit "sticky" on the light side. I am thinking it will harden up. Looks like they will work nicely. I changed my opinion of where to mount. I think on the roller tube up under will be a neater install.

I am looking forward to seeing photos after they are installed. I need to look at my awning more closely for mounting options, as I would like to use them with the awning rolled out as well as rolled in.

These look very interesting, now of course someone gonna forget about them being plugged in and push the button for the awning, what happens when you forget about having them plugged in?

They will probably unplug themselves. But even if they don't, they don't get very hot.

Just ordered mine, but I plan on installing them just below the awning on the side of the camper. If they have 3M adhesive, it should be fairly easy to remove without damaging anything. This way I can still use them even when the awning is not extended.

I'm thinking if the strips were installed on the side of the camper, just under the awning, then they might produce a more spread out, diffused light. Just me thinking, I have no idea if it's true.

cm, I'm thinking the same thing, and when the ato wning is extended, I'm hoping enough light will reflect off the awning to laccomplish what I'm looking for. Most likely will tape it in place and experiment before I actually attach it.

Without modifying the cords to connect them, I doubt you will forget to unplug them. The cords are pretty short. The plug is a very small 4-pin and has no locking mechanism. It would simply pull apart if you rolled it up. Problem is, the power cord and transformer. To make it a cleaner install, I would like to find a small wire to run down the awning arm and have the transformer and 110v wire hidden in a compartment.

Will post pics after I mess with this a few hours.

Awning Lighting

For $9 you can get either an 8' or 16' extension cable from Amazon (Sunrise Cables). I plan to run this down my arm and under the trailer, then come up through existing wiring paths. Transformer will plug up in a cabinet.

I think I'm going to order mine. Was there a consensus on which one was best to buy? I know a few models/brands where thrown out there.

If you want to have the ability to change colors you will be hard pressed to find a better kit than the one I linked in a previous post.

I had them temporally installed in our kitchen for a short time. I plan to put them on the awning tube this weekend. I can give a full review next week when we get back.

Make sure you get the 5050 LED and not the 3528 LED strips.

The 3528 are cheaper. But, they are not as bright and the different colors look multicolored up close.
