awning on slide or not ???
we just ordered a jayflight 29qbh with a deep slide & are trying to decide whether to have our dealer install an awning on the slide or not. Dealer had both pros & cons with the awnings and would like the professionals opionions. Most camping will be done in camp grounds with trees, in our area lots of oak trees (acorns) we are younger & and have a couple of monkeys (daughters) capable of climbing camper & sweeping off slide. Question is awning on slide or Not???

Does your TT have a ladder? I have a 29 RLDS with a ladder so I check my slides before bringing them in. I would hate to have a stick rip the rubber seal. It would not hurt to add them. It would help in keeping the pine sap off the slide also.

Now would be the time to do it! I have been thinking about adding them to mine. I think the have pro's and con's like you said, but i think the pro side says add them. Enjoy the camper.

our tt does have the ladder. Thinking best to go ahead & have it installed. Dealer suggested 2 different ones, a cheaper one, & a more expensive one with wind deflectors to keep it from making noise in windy conditions. Thoughts & experience helpful.

I have them on both my slides. I agree, having a ladder is a must for maintenance. Pros- they keep the crap off your slide roof- they keep the slide area cooler- they look nice. Only one con for me- water tends to pool on the slide cover. Mine have never flapped in the wind.

I bought the Airwedge for my slide toppers. The water doesn't pool & helps prevent wind flapping.

Got one on mine, keeps the leaves and debris off of the slide and it deflects most of the water away from the top of the slide, over the side not towards the seals if you are slightly off level

They also keep lemons, oranges, grapefruits and many other things off the top of your slide.
Wouldn't be w/o them.

While I don't have a deep slide out like some of you, I do have one on my X23B hybrid.
Would you still recommend a topper for it?

We owned a 322fks without slide toppers and now own a 351 RLTS with slide toppers. Having a unit with awnings and one without, there is no way I would purchase a unit with out them Since we spend most of our time in FL heat is a big issue. The slider awnings reallyt cut down on the heat transfer in the slider. It is noticably cooler with them.
