Awning question

I've only opened our awning three times. Today I opened it and gave it a much needed cleaning (both sides) When I wound it back, the strap loop, which i always grab with the rod, disappeared into the roll. Any suggestions on opening now without the loop to grab and pull? Thanks

You grab one arm and have someone grab the other and pull it open to recover the strap.

Thanks, that's what I thought. Wasn't too worried about it.

X2, that is how we opened an older awning for years.

Once you get it open, you could tie a rope loop onto the strap loop to lengthen it.

Should have added, that usually happens when the strap doesn't roll up straight.

I'm sure you use the awning hook when rolling back up. Don't tie a piece of rope to the strap....don't do it. That piece of rope will act like a whip regardless of length and beat the crap out if the side of your coach when traveling. Rather, you can loop a 6' strap or rope thru the loop and grab both ends when rolling up. When the awning is safely stowed just pull the strap or rope out of the loop and stash it away with the hook.
The original strap is the length it us for a good reason.

Happy camping!
