Bad Service Experience

So took my new 2014 Jayco 184BH back to the dealer for a wiring issue. #5 Fuse that runs the kitchen stuff popped after the first use. While it was there for work, I explained to the service guy that I had not been able to get the water heater to light (propane). About two weeks later, I get the trailer back with the wiring "fixed" and an "all good" on the heater. Next use about 2 weeks later, yup #5 fuse pops again and still can't get the water heater lit.

Take it back again, they ended up replacing the entire wire for the kitchen from the fuse. And an all is working just fine thumbs up on the water heater. This time I called them out on the water heater and had someone physically walk me through the lighting sequence, as I had done everything known to man and what google said to do. Yup, two service techs couldn't get it to light.

After some trouble shooting, it turned out the line was kinked restricting the propane flow to the water heater. This service tech said this line was installed incorrectly from the factory. He fixed it and its worked beautifully ever since.

Jest of the story, I sent the CEO/President a not to happy with the service letter. I basically called out the fact that 3 of his employees lied to me about performing work. His response was to not accuse his company of lying to me or not performing quality work. Instead of sorry for having to bring your trailer to my company 3 times for work. We should have caught this on our pre-check before selling this to you. We should have caught it the two additional times you brought it in speech I would have expected.

Wow, thanks Crestview RV in Selma TX for the great service.

I've had generally positive experiences at that dealership. Granted, my tech didn't seem too knowledgeable, and he kind of rushed our PDI, but Steve (the manager) has been very responsive every time I've contacted him. One thing is that I always make them show me they've fixed it before I leave. So I wouldn't have left the lot after the first trip without a demonstration that everything was working to my satisfaction. That does not excuse crappy service, just my way of making sure it's done right.

It's probably too late now because you're both in defensive posture, but if you approach Steve with your concerns amicably, he's usually very responsive, and more than willing to do whatever it takes to make it right.

If he responded in writing I'd be sending a copy to Wilbur and Darrel Bontrager at JAYCO with the same wording you used here.

Camper Bob, I gave them the benefit of the doubt since they were nice enough to stay for a few minutes after closing time for me to pick it up. The last time I was able to get there with enough time to question the issue.

Grumpy, I do have the response in writing.

Sorry to hear of your experience. We have had our trailer to three different dealers for work. The dealer in Idaho was excellent, the one in Washington was OK and the one in Arizona sucked. Any future visits for us will be in Idaho Falls.

One of my biggest pet peeves is bad service. Having been in the business before it has caused me to not hesitate when service is bad and issues are not fixed that I send a letter.

The best dealer in the world would never get that benefit from me. There are WAY too many horror stories out there about bad/incomplete service; some of which I've experienced. If I have my rig in for service, I will insist on a demonstration that the problem was corrected to my liking before the trailer leaves their lot. If there's no time for that, then I'll come back tomorrow. I trust a service technician (RV or other, and this dealership or others) just about as far as I can throw him, and most of those guys are kinda hefty.

It's a shame you had such a crappy run in there, I like that dealership the best out of the ones around us...

Clutch, what is the name of Jayco Dealer in AZ you had bad experience at? I believe there are at least two dealers. I bought from one and had bad experience on a battery replacement.
