Bauer EM Electric Door Lock

will the Bauer EM Electric Door Lock work on the entry door of a 2014 Seneca?
If so, is everyone having good luck with the keyless entry?

If this is the self-contained battery powered keyless Bauer door lock replacing a standard Bauer door lock, then it fit my 2013 Eagle Premier 351RLTS like a glove.

JUNK!!!!!!!!! If it's the same Bauer that is on the 2016 Northpoints, mine literally works maybe 1 time out of 20 attempts. That is no exaggeration either. My rig is at the dealer for the winter and will allegedly have the door lock replaced. Hell...once we got stuck inside because the deadbolt was getting hung up and we couldn't unlock it from the inside even. Had to exit through the second bath.

I find it very convenient. The shortcoming I've found is that it goes through a lot of batteries, but the convenience outweighs that shortcoming. To make it work properly you have to hold your finger on the first button for a couple of seconds until it wakes up and accepts that button press. I also have to make sure the door is closed tight and not resting on the dead bolt.

A set of lithium batteries have lasted me from April through November for each of the past two seasons.

Bauer recommends the use of lithium batteries on this system.

My first Bauer unit was sent to me by the door manufacturer, Challenger Door. It did not work properly. I contacted Bauer. They sent me another one for no charge. I have had zero problems since.

The original keyless entry system on my camper was from Dexter Door. That's the one that was a big pile of junk. The actuators continually failed, leaving the door lock stuck in either locked or unlocked position.

Challenger and Bauer were both great to work with to get my problem resolved to my satisfaction.

Thank you 211 that is my exact setup as you described. I contacted Jayco and they sent me an Bauer keyless door lock but it was to small for my opening so I'm guessing that I need a EM instead of the smaller version.

X2 going that route now. We had the initial problem of getting stuck inside with the roller mechanism jammed in the locked position and had to dismantle the lock to get out from the inside. No second door. After replacing it, have had no problems other than the batteries. We keep a key handy but like the convenience of using that system. We did program our own code in also.

Thanks for the info. Change every six months and there should be no issues

I am on my third Bauer electronic door lock with problems. Takes me 3/4 times to get in. Called customer service they want me to put in a fresh set of Energizer alkaline battery's ok fine that's fair. Still not working. Called Bauer they tell me "what's the problem its working"? What! really three or four times to get in is working. The real problem is I love it when it works.

Peter, I have the same locking mechanism as well. I also got locked inside the unit on one of our first trips when the locking mechanism cylinder broke and got stuck. Had to literally take the door apart from the inside to get out. Wife got scared at that point. Bauer had a problem with a shipment of locks but I think that has been remedied. One problem I continue to have which I thought was low batteries was not. I measured the voltage on the batteries and they were fine. What was happening is somehow, the unit was losing its code to unlock. I program my own code in. What I found out was I could re-program the unit, and it works fine, until the next time. Does not happen often as we camp every month. Maybe every 6 months or so this would happen. I just reprogram on the spot, and move on. I, like you, love the unit when it works. I do keep a key on me, just in case. Have not gotten locked in any more.

I realize this is an old thread but since there are quite a few threads in different locations referencing the keyless entry lock I wanted to use an existing post where it would see more traffic. I have the Bauer lock which was installed at the factory and I installed new alkaline batteries back in May. Recently I discovered an issue where the door code would not work after the entry door was exposed to the sun in extremely high temps. After opening the door (with a key) so the lock was not facing the direct sun the code would then work after the lock had a chance to cool down. This has happened to me twice. Is it the lock or the batteries? I’m still under warranty so I have options but looking for some user feedback. Thanks.

Waste of money IMO. 2 of them went bad, on the third. Always needing batteries, just to much of a hassle. Easier to use a key, won't buy it again.

Our Bauer lock remains as useless today as it did a year ago. Wish I didn't have it so I could retrofit a keyed residential-type deadbolt in its place.
