I use Verizon and travel all over the US for business. There's almost nowhere I can't get a signal these days.

Verizon for us. We've had a handful of coverage issues, but they have generally been in areas that any provider will have issues (e.g. in a narrow valley). I have AT&T for work and hate it due to the lack of coverage.

Thanks, Everyone! We were considering AT&T because they've got good unlimited data packages right now, but that doesn't matter if the coverage isn't good. I think I'll just upgrade our package from 1 GB to 2 and see how that works.

We're on wifi 90% of the time right now. I hope we can find good wifi during our travels. Is there usually good wifi at campgrounds?

Campground wifi is always miserable. That's why we have a Verizon router. Have always had a good connection, no matter where we were, with Verizon. Just purchased a Straightalk router that uses Verizon cell service. It's going to be interesting to see if Straightalk coverage using Verizon cell service is as good as using Verizon's own router.

Don, do you get the router from Verizon? How much do they cost and is there a monthly fee also? Thanks for the info.

We have used a Verizon Jetpack to connect to the Internet for years. As long as you have cell service your Jetpack will also work.

There are different plans....check them out on your account or visit a Verizon store.

I live in the west and not having cell service is a given but my work ATT does not "work" when I visit my home office in Iowa.

One up-side for ATT is that I do need to talk on the phone while my hot-spot is active. ATT is, as far as I know, the only carrier that can handle that,

I purchased a Verizon router through Ebay for much less than what Verizon charges. I've been using it for several years and I have never had a problem connecting. I've been to the east coast a couple of times and every place had a good connection. I pay $50 a month for a 4 GB service plan. I'm changing to Straight Talk because they're much cheaper but I have no conclusions yet as I'm just now setting it up.
