It's demonstrating a principle - he isn't making a recommendation. Nobody tows a trailer with round weights on a post either. It's a lot cheaper (not to mention safer) way to make the demonstration than hooking up a 25' trailer to a 1500 PU and then wrecking it.

IMO, it shows how poor weight distribution of a trailer can influence sway. U-Haul would like you to know that.

If you play that video, then play the YouTube video 'Caravan Sway Crash' that shows up in the list to the right of the screen (at least it does on mine). That video shows how in just seconds a little sway turns into an out of control crash. I believe there are a few others out there, too, showing sway and crashes

Back to weight distribution...
I haven't seen a good video of how a weight distribution hitch works. Yes, there are a few 'sales' videos and 'how to install' videos out there. But I'd love to see one where they put the trailer tires, TV rear tires, and TV front tires on 3 different scales. Then, with the weight bars installed but left loose at the rear end, use electric motors secured to the trailer tongue to pull up the ends of the bars while displaying the 3 scales.

Lol, I had something funny to say but let it go. The dump button has been overworked lately.

Guess I missed the premier and the 2nd release of the video, Mike.

Funny thing about U-Haul; I could tow my White Hawk all over the country with my 2008 Explorer Sport Trac with no problem. However, due to the Firestone tire problem with the previous generation of Ford Exploders, U-Haul would not allow me to rent any of their trailers. More stupid, if you had any year Mercury Mountaineer, you could rent any U-Haul trailer even though it was basically a re-badged Explorer.

I actually think this is a good example of how proper tongue weight and too little tongue weight can affect sway. Doesn't really demonstrate WDH IMHO.

Murff, it was worse than that. Up until last year I had a 2003 Explorer. UHaul wouldn't rent me a trailer.
In 2003, Ford completely redesigned the Explorer, dropping the Ranger chassis and designing a new, Explorer specific chassis that everyone, including the NTSB, agreed solved the rollover problem. But can UHaul understand that? NO - why? In an e-mail a UHaul representative explained that they don't want to rely on their counter agents to understand the difference between different years of Explorers - so they just ban them all. They make so little on each day's rental of those trailers that they would much prefer you rent a truck anyway.

So I just started telling the counter agents that I drove an Expedition. Most of them never looked - the few that did raised their eyebrows, laughed, and kept on with the paperwork. LOL.
