Big News?

Looks like Jayco may be getting a bit larger. Any thoughts here?

Jayco is buying Open Range RV. It will be come a whole owned subsiderary of Jayco but opperated as an independant business -- probably a lot like starcraft.

If you go to the page, "breaking news" shows up and the Jayco deal is in the stringers.

When you open the link that jal0710 sent it says the page can't be found on the top left, look to the heading Tags and scroll down to the J's to find Jayco. There is a longer explanation of the of the deal.

I have a friend who has an Open Range unit and it is pretty nice. I just hope that Jayco does not get so large that they start sacrificing quality for quantity.

In the Press Release;

Quote:
According to a release from Jayco, Open Range RV will operate as a wholly owned and separate subsidiary with Randy Graber as president.

As long as Jayco maintains their commitment to quality and customer service, it can be a good thing. I think that some manufacturers, like Thor, are simply too big to understand the needs of RV'ers.

Thor may be the biggest as they own Keystone, Dutchman, Airstream, etc. I looked at a few Open Range travel trailers and they seem top notch with a price to go along.

This seems strange to me. Wasn't Open Range a creation of KZ?

Or is that something else the salesman at the KZ dealership lied to me about?

Not so.. Randy Grabber and his wife started Open Range!! Don't know if they had outside investors or not. But I don't think KZ was part of the equation..

There was some KZ support early on, I looked at a Open Range a few years ago and the Plastic Fenders had KZ labels in the inside of them.

Not sure why they would have KZ labels on them, as I remember I saw some other parts with KZ labels on them, just do not remember what.

Can't remember Rob??

Is it time to pull the pin and fully retire and join us for no work travel?

Open Range puts out a quality product. If someone is going to inquire them, let it be Jayco. Once Thor gets a product, it goes down the tubes.
