Black Ants

I've noticed a few black ants in my 29Y. Anyone else had this problem? What do you recommend to get rid of these pests? Lots of products on the market. TKU, Garry

If your talking about the little black pi$$ ants, the best thing I've used to get rid of them fast is the Grant's Kills Ants liquid ant bait. It is a blueish liquid and you put a small dime size or less puddle on a non-porous "plate". The ants will have a taste of it and soon there'll be a ring of them sucking the stuff down like pigs around a feeder. They carry the poison back to the nest and feed it to their buddies and soon the whole colony is toast.

If you have the giant black ants that are about 3/4" long, those are Carpenter Ants and they eat the wood framing of your structure. I've not seen an OTC product that is effective against them, so you may have to seek professional help.

home defense sold at home depot. Spay around the outside of your TT, underneath, the tires, the tongue. That stuff works great.

Thats what I use too. I have also heard that putting a ring of powdered comet around the RV works well. Course that doesn't help much if they are already underneath it!

I have had ant problems in the past and its not fun. Now i sprinkle ant bate granules outside around the tires and jacks and use "TERRO" inside.
terro is a liquid made from borax and sugar water that ants love and take it back to there nest. It usually eliminates them in 3 to 5 days. Sounds like it could be the same kind of stuff that mcfarmall was talking about.

I use the liquid Terro. Put a few drops on a piece of foil and around a week they are gone. Great stuff.

I think it is. The last time I was in Menards in the pest aisle I didn't see any Grant's Kills Ants liquid.
