Black tank level gauge
I wanted to share a Big Thank you to Thompson's RV in Iowa. My black tank had been reading 2/3 full even though it's empty. Tried all kinds of stuff. Then I ask the big boys. And it worked GREAT. The gauge reads empty

I'm going to give mine a good dumping in the morning. We leave here for 5 nights in a park w/o sewer hookups. Mine never is accurate but I gave up worrying about it. When it's just the two of us, the indicator is not that important.
We know that after 5-6 days we have to find a black water dump or endure the blue boy routine.

Yeppirs, it's just one of the minor annoyances that comes along with these probe sensors. I've looked at SeeLevel sensors several times but the cost is just too much for me. For that price I can just wing it.

So the solution was the Cleaner? That might be some good stuff!
We've had periodic problems with the sensors but for the last year or so after a last dump and flush I close the dump valve, run the black flush for 30 sec and drop a "dissolve, digest" packet down the toilet. The drive home will "slosh" the water/chem mixture in the tank and I figure sitting in the storage for 1 week - 3 months will do the deed. The drive to the next CG will finish loosening the "stuff" in the tank.
Works for me.

We've always flushed our tanks completely each time we dump and make sure the gauge goes to empty. We've never had a problem with the sensors -- keeping them clean (whether through flushing or chemicals) is the key.
