brake controller for 19H
post number 2...
i didn't find what i wanted to know in the search... i'm sometimes useless with those things... but i'll try again.
any ideas/opinions on using a P3 brake controller from Tekonsha?
towing a 19H with a 2007 tundra... electric brakes on the trailer.
looks pretty straightforward, just wanting to know if there is anything i should be alerted to with this setup? not new to towing, just new to electric trailer brakes...
thanks! i'll try to take a few photos of the install.

I use a P2 and it works great, no complaints.
Not sure you need the P3 for a 19H TT, the P3 supports Hydraulic Over Electric brakes which creats a tighter spec on how level the P2 needs to be mounted. You probably will be able to get a P2 and save a few bucks. IMO, buy the harness made spefic for you truck, makes install super easy.

thanks for the info, CH... i don't mind a few extra bucks, if it will give me a few extra features... but as with a lot of things, that isn't always the case... sometimes more features = more headaches...
i did plan on getting the harness made for the vehicle... that's a pretty nice no-brainer, eh?

I switched to the P2 for towing my 198RD and couldn't be happier. I tow in the mountains of WV and the P2 makes me feel like the camper and tahoe are working together and not as two separate vehicles if that makes sense. In my research I couldn't justify the extra money to move up to the P3 despite the fact that I, like you, prefer features over price. The one thing I did like about the P3 was the display. Either way you wont be let down!

I have a P3 towing my 19H. A couple of years ago, I had the Voyager with my other 19H. World of difference between controllers. Money well spent, when comparing those two.

I researched long and hard on this subject and decided on the P2. as a bonus it was on sale at CW when i bought it and found a youtube video from etrailer on how to wire/hook it up for my envoy specific application. I have no complaints as all with it.

We have the p3 0n our Liberty and tow a 19H love them both the p3 does both elec and hydrulic don't know how but was told that by the dealed

Electric over hydraulic brakes are great. But they are primarily found on large, higher end 5th wheel trailers.
Probably won't need that feature in the immediate future.

seemed to work just fine with the P3... i probably have a bit more fine-tuning to do on the system, but so far, so good... towed it first time about 175 miles back from where we purchased it... after doing a preliminary setup in a big parking lot...
what's the longevity on these tandem axle trailer brakes? when will it need new linings and turning the drums?

My trailer is over 9 years old. Original brake linings and drums. About 50K miles towing.
Adjust once a year. Check every year or two.
Your mileage may vary.....

Have the P3 and love it so far. Also purchased the wiring harness together from etrailer and the hardest part about the install was deciding where to mount it.

thanks, i was thinking they should last for a while, as it isn't on the road constantly... and i don't plan too many far-away trips... that could change
