With the EPA now having a 300 plus page rule on wood stoves, which will cost $300 million or more per year and outlaw old stoves, I can see them outlawing wood fires when camping and outlaw wood for BBQ unless somehow contained.
Where did you see the information about outlawing old stoves?
I can only see this on the EPA web site:
"The rule does not affect existing woodstoves and other wood-burning heaters currently in use in people’s homes."
From: http://www2.epa.gov/residential-wood...d-heater-rules
Backyard recreational fires are already getting a lot of attention at the state and city level around the country. I wouldn't be surprised to see them banned in more places.
I've been in campgrounds with burning restrictions put on them by the city/county due to "smoke pollution".
Seems to me a campfire in the woods is one thing, and a trailer park with 500 trailers, each with a roaring campfire, could be another....

Where I camp we get fire restriction due to fire danger. The folks that use camp grounds may still be allowed to use designated fire pits but since we boondock, it's a Propane Fire or nothing.
The outside fires will be permitted only if you keep the opacity down under 5, co under 20ppm you have to spray in urea to keep the nox down but not too much because then you'll have to keep your eye on the noxnh3. Opps also don't forget about the co2 and so2. Must keep all records for each fire you have and if your out of compliance you will never be able to have a campfire again.

I'm sure most of the comments here are meant to funny- Unfortunately, some are TOO radical to comprehend- IMHO most rules have some necessary reasoning behind them and we all need to be reasonable in our view of this- Anyway, it seems to me that we may be unreasonable because we don't know "the rest of the story"- DD

Sadly, to many "campers" have no common sense when it comes to fires. I've had to talk to folks that have had fires taller then themselves. And to make matters worse, under overhanging tree branches. I've also woken people up with fires blazing, asking them if they were coming back out. Most campgrounds have a rule all fires MUST be attended, can't even go inside for a minute...this is with good cause. Only takes a minute for a wind gust to come and spread the fire.
That being said, too often rules by bureaucrats who have been out of the city, just lack common sense also. Most of us who love the outdoors have respect for the land and our fellow campers and want to do what is right, and do.

I'm not too worried about it yet. They say smoke follows beauty so I have mama stand on the other side of the fire. Problem solved , no smoke gojng anywhere else.
these laws are getting out of control, it seems like someone does something stupid and then they make a law to control the stupidity....Need to use common sense!
