Camper Too Wide?

Was shopping for a new 5er the other day looking at a Pinnacle. Dealer said most states don't allow campers/RV's that are over 8' wide to be on the roads that are not highways. I checked on line and he was partially right. Most states west of the Mississippi don't have that width restriction but east of the Mississippi many do. I know it is not realistic to think law enforcement will pull you over and measure the width of your camper but from a practical sense do any of you with 102" wide rigs have problems navigating 2-lane roads? Wish you had bought an 8' wide unit instead? There is a North Point with the same layout as the Pinnacle I like but without some of the features I prefer and 6' narrower.

It is not as restrictive as stated. This does not include Interstate Highways or maybe even US Highways. You are also allowed to use roads to get safely to a campground or camping spot. Safe Harbor laws apply.

Here is a good article to read and digest. It's going to be up to the individuals on where they travel with the 102"'s.

Our Pinnacle and the thought of missing the little bit wider models is not even an issue with the big slides we have.

Safe travels.

JAYCO is not the only manuf and if that was true do you think they would be sold in every state? Most diesel pushers have been that width for many years.

I have never noticed any issues with the width. We have been on many 2 lane roads without a single issue in 7 states so far. We use a motor carriers road atlas to plan trips. If a road says no trucks it's because of a low bridge or an axle weight restriction. 102 inches is not a problem.
