Camping Chair Recommendations

What is your favorite camping chair recommendation? I am looking for the most comfortable, lightweight, durable and fairly compact (can fit under booth table when traveling). I want to replace two 10 year old zero gravity recliners.

Frankly, I think the all stink.
The only one I can sit in for any length of time is one built like this:
Sports Chair- Navy - Picnic Time 809-00-138 - Folding Chairs - Camping World
I've had a disc repaired between L4 and L5 and I need lumbar support. You just don't find that in camping chairs. The closest I come is the chair above which at least lets me sit up straight. Most camping chairs are curved or webbed at the back of your "butt" so you feel like you're sliding out of them. That KILLS my back.

Every time I'm in a camping store or sports store I go sit in every chair they have - and I've never found one that's comfortable for more than a few minutes.

<End Rant>

X2. Our first chairs were horrible and didn't last but a few weeks. We both have bad backs so now we use chairs similar to BuddyRay's link. We haven't found one yet with any kind of lumbar support.

We have a pair of these: https://www.amazon.com/Lafuma-Cham-E...001GQ3D6K?th=1

We find them very comfortable and you have the option of sitting up straight or reclining. We also like having the ability to use them as a chair to sit at the end of a picknic table, or trailer's dining table, or a folding table like https://www.amazon.com/Cosco-Product...=folding+table

BTW, we bought them a few years ago and paid (IIRC) around $80 for each of them, but not at Amazon. I used Amazon because of the additional information there.

Yikes! I was going to ask what makes a folding camping chair worth $168 each...

A friend of mine had one of these. It sat great. I'm thinking it will be a great birthday present from my kids.

Thanks everyone for your response. I have two of the director style with the folding side table which we like. The ones I want to replace are the two zero gravity recliners which I paid around $60 each ten years ago at either sams or Costco. There was no inventory when I went to Sams last week. I may just wait until the camping season items are restocked next spring to see what they have to offer and keep using the old ones.

I am familiar with Lafuma chairs. But wow, prices have really gone up. I just found them on overstock.com. However, at this price point, I would have to have a few glasses of wine before I hit purchase. They are very nice, comfortable and good quality.

https://www.overstock.com/Home-Garde...34/subcat.html

Can anyone think of any chairs because of quality or comfort NOT to buy?

Look at Cabelas, Field and Stream and Gander Mountain. There are loads of them coming out.

I just purchased 2 yesterday from Field & Stream but they are not a zero gravity type. My director chairs seat rotted out and I see no way to repair them.

Here is what I got to replace the director chair.

My opinion on outdoor furniture: "Keep it cheap and replace often."

Outdoor furniture get opened and closed many times a year. Left out in the rain, stowed in the cold (possibly wet). And is guaranteed to be uncomfortable.

So a trip to Wally World every few years to replace 1 or 2 chars to keep the campsite 'fresh' works well enough.

We have 2 Lafuma Zero Recliner chairs we have been using for 7 years and they are still in excellent condition:
Lafuma Futura XL Zero Gravity Recliner - XL size for me
Lafuma Futura Zero Gravity Recliner - Regular size for my wife.

Another think I like about the Lafuma, you can also get Lafuma Replacement Laces for RSX and RSX XL Recliners. I had to replace mine 1 time after about 5 years.
It pays to spend a little more for quality because they last and replacement parts are available.

Agreed. There's a lot to be said quality when it lasts instead of replacing every few years - that adds up too. I cannot complain about the durability of my old ones. They still look good and are a little heavy - but, no replacement parts available. Good point.

Too many choices and good suggestions from everyone! Thank you.

But there has to be some middle ground. I can't sit in a bag chair over a few minutes. 15 years of kids sports games took care of that!

Something with good back support costs to much to throw away every season.

I love the Lafuma but they are not in my budget.

We have a pair of expensive Zero chance you can get out of it without making sounds (possible escape of gas) chairs (I hate them for the lost storage space) and we have a pair of CW canvas director chairs we have used for several years. I am not much of a sitter and no expert on chairs but a simple straight back chair is hard to beat.

Well you had to specify compact and lightweight, this chair isn't it, but this is what I use
It's very comfortable, I can sit in it for hours (and do at Grandkid's basball games).
It's a folding Papasan style chair.
