The shakedown trip went great! We sure put hubby's driving skills and the new trailer to the test. It was hella windy and driving rain for most of our journey to the campground. But hubby did great and the trailer had not a drop of water inside - even after being in the heavy rain for over an hour on our way there. I have to say, it was really great being cozy in there listening to the winds howl and the rain come down!
My packing skills were right on too (I've done a lot of reading about that on RV forums). I'd decided that I want to be one of those crazy people who pack real dishes - so I did. Not one piece of Fiestaware was broken. Nothing fell out of cabinets and every single thing in the trailer works fine.
I'd read so many horror stories that I was sure our first stop on the way back would be to the dealer for a repair of some sort - but no! So happy about that.
Also, I was able to find a place to put everything I wanted to bring - no shortage of space for things and stuff just FITS like it belongs there. For example, there's an extension on the kitchen counter and the toaster oven JUST fits there - and the coffeemaker fits the space next to the sink exactly. It's like home, go figure!
Can't wait to head out again. Our next trip is in September to Crater Lake. :-)
It's all fun and games til the flying monkeys show up!
