It wouldn't have helped us this week ( but it was cold so the dog was fine) We were hiking without her in a region with no cell service.
Not to say its not a good idea but it may not always work.
been to Ak 2 times [w/o dogs unfortunitly] but can say pretty confidently that toasting your pet in your RV while you're out is probably not a big concern up there. Leashing them to the picnic table while showering could lead to a bigger brown problem for them.

Not sure about that. We have been to the Yukon three times and to the NWTerritories. It can get very hot..or not very hot.We have only been to AK inland once and it was hot too. Juneau and the coast is very different of course

Liard Hot Springs had temps over 100. We dont get that at home!

Bottom line I think is do what you will do. My point here on this thread is that it is wrong for people to make this into pet abuse for folks to leave their pets inside their rvs while on a day outing. Your choice or my choice on how to care for our pets. Can it get hot in Alaska [or Yukon]? It can but not that often and when it does its totally predictable. Steaming hot weather does not sneak up on you up there. Now in W Texas or Arizona in the summer, stifling heat is to be expected so you have to act accordingly.

As to this OP's ???, previous posters have offered several very good suggestions. When its going to be over 70 it is much safer to leave the guys at home [in rv] with the ac after taking appropriate precautions to coordinate with CG hosts etc should a problem occur.

As a final note, we never cranked the a/c in our rented MH over the total of 35 days [2 trips] to Alaska.
