Question Can one anchor the electric awning?

The manual says not to, but I have seen pictures on other forums of people doing so?

We have the self storing aluminum poles with alum brackets. It all stays on the awning arms. Have had them on the last 2 rigs. I've got several pictures on another thread but I'll have to dig. I wouldn't be without them. Between them and the straps, awning has no problem in 30 knot winds. We have the A&E 9100 power awning.

We always do, but be sure to go around the roller not on the arms.

We have the Carefree Travel'R
Manual says: Instructions for: Travel'R Fixed Steep Pitch Awning and Travel'R Adjustable Pitch Awning

Ours is adjustable.

Our new Jay Feather 23RLSW has a Colorado Carefree Longitude awning, which is an OEM not normally shown on their website. However, it's similar to the Travel'r. So I contacted Colorado Carefree directly about it. Here's the answer:
"We do not recommend using tie-downs for this particular awning. If the wind becomes enough so that you feel it should be tied down, we recommend you retract it until the wind subsides."
Thought that made it pretty clear.

Good luck!

Roger

This is the price you pay for the convenience of the power awning. It certainly is quick and simple to extend and retract, so I make use of that feature in protecting it from damage. Only time it's out is if I'm sitting under it or close by to keep an eye. It always comes in when we head to the beach or go to sleep.

I'll post pictures after while. While others are picking up all their stuff and rolling it up, I'm sitting under mine. To each their own. What I have acts like the old manual awnings with the legs down once tied down.

John

Are those poles the ones OC made? Or are you using a modified painters pole?

Love the camp chef. We have 2 and wouldn't be without one.

Those are OC's original poles. Have a set of OC's brackets and Turbs poles on my FIL's rig. I prefer OC's though. I still have a brand new set of brackets in my shop in the box. If I had to do it again, I'd either build or go with one of the telescoping painters poles with the same brackets.

Yes, camp chef. Love it. I had a nice built one, but recently did some bartering and scored that one on a trade. Used once. The wing extensions are from my old stove.
