Cancelled trip :(
Was supposed to go Dad's Day camping this weekend but had to cancel due to weather. We were scheduled for Friday-Sunday and there were severe thunderstorms with very strong winds forcasted for most of the weekend. Well, Saturday rolls on by and nothing. No storms. But low and behold, that night, all H*ll broke loose!! 50 mph winds sustained for an hour. Small craft advisory for the Chesapeake Bay and tornado warnings all night long. Alot of rotations spotted in the area. Then a deluge of rain all Sunday morning. So what I thought was a premature cancellation actually was a blessing in disguise.
Just thought I'd share.
Be careful out there fellow Jayconians.

Glad to hear all is well in the end.
Sad over a missed day of fun beats mourning over a ruined trailer and injured loved ones.
The safe path has prevailed again!

We had about 13hrs (4am - 5pm) of rain Saturday in south central Ohio.
But luckily no thunder & lightening or high winds.
The kids had a blast playing out in the rain and mud. The DW and I watched from underneath the awning of our 23B.

Just to show you the resilience of JAYCO/STARTCRAFT products our daughter was in Mitchell SD Friday night with their STARCRAFT Hybrid and they had 65-80 mph gusts. No problems what so ever.
In 1973 at a STARCRAFT Rally in Iowa they had a tornado roll through very close. The winds took down the big tent that was used for all the gatherings dinner etc, awnings were damaged, anything not tied down went helter skelter, but not one pop-up collapsed or turned over.
I know, if you can avoid bad weather do so, but their products are pretty reliable in my opinion.

Sorry to hear about having to cancel your trip.
We were camping in Luray, VA. We did get some rain Saturday, but it was actually fairly well timed. It rained pretty heavily while we ate dinner inside, then had a couple of hours to sit and gab with our friends under the awning while it sprinkled and lightly rained, and then it rained again for a little while overnight. There was some wind, but it wasn't crazy.
I saw the tornado warning and storm watches at home and was glad we were elsewhere.
It's amazing how much of a difference being ~67 almost straight west can make.

We spent Thursday through today at the JellyStone in Gloucester VA. Had a very bad storm Saturday night with high winds. Motor home next to us didn't close his awning and I saw it get ripped off. Campground lost power from just after midnight until just before 8am Sunday. Other than the heat we still had a great weekend camping...

Been thru a severe thunderstorm in our new TT...we stayed put but nearly everyone packed up except those in TTs....the storm started around 7:00 pm and lasted until midnight...we definitely had a great light show and man did it rain and hail.....sounded like marbles hitting the roof and it was loud! We went to bed about 10:30 and woke up the next morning to sun. Boy was the camp ground deserted...spoke with the park staff and they said that there was a mass exodus of tenters, pups, and motor homes till 4:00 am.

We heard yesterday that a Dutchmen flipped on it's side that night. Alot of awnings torn off campers (why does this happen? News people). No one was hurt.

We were driving through MN and IA in the remnants of the storm last Monday morning. It got so bad at one point that we, and a bunch of tractor trailers, pulled over for about an hour to ride it out. Once the rain eased up it was still pretty windy, and of course I was driving into it most of the day - my mileage took a HUGE hit that day. Thankfully no issues with the TT and the hitch worked as it was designed.

My Wife thinks I'm crazy when I jump out of bed to roll up the awing after hearing the wind gust...
She also doesn't understand why I roll mine up if rain is forecasted when "everybody else" is leaving theirs down...
