Carpeting versus Vinyl
I was reading on another thread about carpeting in tt's.
One of the selling features of our new 2011 tt is the fact there is no carpeting in it. When I'm camping I don't want to be thinking about too much cleaning and a quick sweep of the floor suits me just fine.
How does the carpeting in Jayco tt's hold up? With the slide-outs does that cause more wear and tear on the carpeting?
On a side note, we've had more snow this winter than normal and I'm tired of it. I can hardly wait for spring so we can get out camping!

Our carpet seems to be doing fine. Our last 5'er carpet was fine as well.

Our tt came with the "entry level" carpeting in the bedroom and could've had it in between the couch and dinette. We had carpet in our last tt and it was a pain to keep clean. We paid the $35 it cost to order our Jayco w/out the carpet in the living area (they still installed it in the b/r). We prefer having the vinyl and using a long runner rug. When the couch slides in, it doesn't touch the carpet/rug or vinyl. You have the 22fb right?

Personally...
I like carpet more... Just means you got to wear slip ons or clogs. But its nice to come in on a cool day and run you toes through a nice warm carpet. 
As for vinyl it is easier but just so cold and always looking to cover it with a throw rugs anyways... 
So I've cut old carpet to fit over the vinyl like throw rugs. Then lay a old towel at the door for my clogs (keeping the winter snow in a controlled area).
Still go out and sit in the Eagle and fire up the furnace and dry it out now and then. Listen to the only radio station in the area. Then day dream of camping.

There is an easy formula for this one, at least for my gang, - Kids = no carpet. No kids involved, I`m sure a couple adults can keep a carpet clean and looking nice. -Lee

The RVs that I have been in that have carpet have always had a more 'musty' smell to me. I think it holds more odor and moisture personally. I would rather have vinyl and put some carpet runners down by the door or bed and toss them every year or two. I also like the fact I can sweep and get all the dirt out quickly instead of trying to vacuum on the road.

We have minor carpet in the dinette but the rest is vinyl. I found it easy to tell my wife to clean both

We had carpet in our last travel trailer (13 yrs) and it held up great. We traded that for a 5th wheel and the carpet (6 yrs) look good. We have high expectations for the carpet in our new Eagle.

Kids & carpet is very bad combination. Even 1 spilled pop or juice will instantly destroy a rug. IMO, NO rugs would be much better.

It's a little blurry as I took it in a hurry this morning but here is a pic of our shag rug from WM. It runs the length of the couch; keeps the chill off the feet in the cold; shakes out clean; and *luckily* so far hasn't endured a spill in the year and half that we've had the tt (Man! It's 1 1/2 yrs old *already* ?).
That's my soon to be 4yr old grandson

My 16 year old fifth wheel has carpet that looks, well, 16 years old. The vinyl in the kitchen doesn't look near as old. I plan on ripping out that carpet throughout, except the bedroom, and replacing with Allure vinyl flooring. At least I hope so.

We had no carpet in our Wolf Pack and it needed sweeping every trip. Of course, we used it for ATVing so while they were outside, we almost always had dirty shoes and clothes. Plus we live in the country where there's no pavement, so just walking down to the barn to get into it adds dirt. So on the Eagle we ordered it without carpet. We can put down a washable runner for our comfort.
