Check your tires!

I put off getting tires untill this year which I was just in time. Check this crack out that was on the backside of the tire. Friendly reminder check both sides of tires and replace every 4 to 6 years...might want to favor 4 year interval. Also grease your bearings my buddy just hand one smoke and ruin his axle. After his experience I will be carrying an extra hub and bearing pressed and greased. Cheap insurance for when you're in the middle of nowhere.

Thats quite a crack by the rim. I think tires have a date code if I recall. Do you know what yours was, and if so, how long did you have them in service verses the day they were made?

Not sure, trailer is 2011 with the original tires. So at least 2011 they have been in service for. I would assume they where probably made 2010 and part of the reason I think that is because I remember a 4 digit number that I thought it ended in 10. FYI I was originally planning on replacing them last year. However after seeing what I found. I think they were way past due.

Looks like avoided a big problem.

I would agree with th you those tires were past due for replacement.

My 2012 TT, had 9/2011 tires, and I replaced them last summer (2016). I'm on the 5 year interval.

We only ran on the original trailer tires for 4 years. Way Too Many "blowmax" stories to keep them for another year. They age just sitting around, no matter how many miles you put on them.

Just this morning we had the Rainer tires replaced with Goodyear's Endurance tires. We did not want to risk a 3rd summer on the China made bombs.

Replaced GY Marathons yesterday

Replaced the GY Marathons C's (likely 7 yrs old) on my 2010 Jay Flight 22FB (bought 2/17). Put on new Maxxis 205/75/15/D. The GY's looked good, but the tire tech showed me little cracks (dry rot?) deep in the tread. They were time bombs. Check your tires very carefully.

I replaced the Ranier's with Endurance tires after our first 2000mi trip.

A buddy used to do bass fishing competition. They carried two spares for the boat trailer. Both of the wheels were bolted to hubs that were ready to mount to the trailer, including packed bearings and new seals. Reasoning was 1) bearings go out often on boat trailers, 2) easier to unscrew one nut than 5 or 6 (and no need for a lug wrench).

PS buddy worked on semi trailers for a major trucking company
