cover tt in storage or not ?

is covering your rv in storage a good idea? talking about an actual rv cover not just a tarp. wondering if movement of the cover will damage or scratch the outside of the rv? thanks, happy camping.

I have never covered my TT's here in Michigan, but some folks do. The biggest concern with a cover is damage to the TT do to a poorly fitted cover (as you mentioned, wind damage), so IMO if you do go with a cover invest in a quality brand material, vented, and one designed to "fit" your model TT.

Mine is covered from end of October to the beginning of May. It is a Classic Accessories , bought to fit. I stick tennis balls on the down spouts to avoid tearing the cover. It is a pain to put on and take off but it's worth the effort when I know it is bring protected from acid rain, tree sap and UV for those 6 mos. Larry

We use our trailer year round. We do not use a cover. We live in Texas and the sun is strong, but the 9 year old fiberglass still looks pretty good.

I got a cover for mine. It will be covered in the summer time when not in use due to the sun beating down on the roof.

I cover mine with an Adco custom fit cover stored outside. In the spring the trailer is clean on the outside and dry on the inside.

I have one for a 32' 5th wheel that has been used once. We are currently looking for a buyer.

I cover mine in between all uses. It only takes me 15 minutes to take it on or off and I like knowing that it is protected from the elements. I didn't buy it for protection from the rain so much as I did for the harsh Texas sun. Been covered since I bought it a year and a half ago, and it still looks brand new; the same can not be said of trailers the same age in the storage lot next to me.

I have an ADCO cover on my new TT, so far so good, I couldn't stand the streaks the rain was leaving on it, so I cover her up and I opened the side flap by the door to load more camping accessories and line the drawers and cupboards. It was perfect. I have not seen any schafing on it.

Cover on a Skylark

We have a 2012 Skylark that has non glass windows. I'm concerned the cover will scratch the windows, we live on the ocean and with the salt and wind, I'd like to cover, but don't want to reduce visibility on the Skylark windows. Any thoughts, and suggestions???

I would not worry about covering an RV.. they are meant to be outside.. if the tarp is not made for you RV and if you are not meticulous in securing it then you will have rubbing problems... more people I know sweat at them than swear by them..

Me thinks Seann has a wild index finger. The R and T are somewhat close on the keyboard. That's Ok Seann, we know what you mean.

Cars and trucks are meant to be outside too, but you can sure tell the difference between ones that are kept in the garage and ones that aren't. I may swear at the cover occasionally, but it sure is nice to have a camper that looks brand new rolling down the road.

I skip the cover and apply wax at least once a year.

My trailer is 9+ years old and looks great.

Covers are not the only solution.

Hey Russel, may I ask what kind of wax? I have decided to go that route.

I've had good luck with Star Brite fiberglass boat wax.

I used to buy it at Walmart, but they no longer carry it.

Last purchased at West Marine.
