curious... Eagle Ht 23.5 VS Eagle 257RBS
Just looking at the Jayco website and dreaming of RV'ing soon (not soon enough) in April in the OBX
Looking at all the TT's and 5th wheel, just for fun...
Anyways, I see that both the Eagle HT 23.5 and the TT Eagle 257RBS look to have the same floor plan.
Now, the difference in length and numbering on the 5th wheel and TT is what got me scratching my head.
How does that work between 5th wheel and TT?
comparing both side to side and just measuring the living area, would they both be the same?
is the difference in exterior measurements only in the hitch for the TT?
Why is there a difference in CCC over 1600 lbs between both?
Looking at both floor plans, they look identical!

Regarding the difference in length and numbering, I had been wondering the same thing, so I asked my dealer. He said the numbering represents the walkable interior floor distance, front to back. He said this would include the floor going up beside a bed for instance.

Just thinking out-loud here.....,
IMO it's like trying to compare apples to oranges. In general the frame structure is different between a FW and a TT, FW's have larger cargo areas, and in most cases allow for a higher GVWR with a FW. In the case of the "HT" model FW's the design focus was to keep the UVW low so that when under moderately loaded conditions a properly equipped half ton could tow it. Being creative with the type's of materials used in the "HT" model also influences the delta between it's UVW and GVWR.

I, too, have often wondered how they come up with the numbering system. But if it really is the walkable interior distance, how does one account for my 29RLTS 5th wheel, which is 33 feet exterior length, and interior walkable is 30.5 feet ???

OK, after posting the previous message, I decided to contact Jayco and try to get an answer directly from them about model number designations versus actual lengths. Will post their reply when it arrives.

Get it right from the horse's mouth!
Great
As for how long the trailers are inside, not sure, didn't measure inside but I cannot see how the Eagle TT 257RBS would be 2 feet longer inside than the HT 23.5, both floor plans are identical (on the website).

This is the response I received from Cressida Burkus, Jayco Customer Service Specialist on the subject of model numbers and length of the unit:
"The Model number is not the length it is just a number that Jayco comes up with to differentiate all of our many models we have here at Jayco".
Guess this explains it once and for all.

curious... Eagle Ht 23.5 VS Eagle 257RBS
Great!!! Glad to have that mystery solved at last
Thanks!
By the way, I used to own a 2012 Shasta Revere TT (Forest River) and wrote to them a couple of times and NEvER got an answer back from them.
I wrote to jayco twice and they quickly responded to both of my emails.

That makes sense for our model Jay Flight G2 29BHS which is exactly the same length/floorplan as the same year 28BHS... (the short-lived G2 included as standard the options offered on the non G2).
Thanks Tinlizzie, it's nice to have that clarification here

Yep, as with most manufacturers the number designation can mean very little in regards to length. One example is the trailer I have, a 28BHS. That year Jayco offered the same trailer in the G2 package calling it the 29 BHS. These two units had different option packages but were dimensionally identical.
