Diy slide cover for my TT

Picking up soon my TT with slide and I know it is a must to clean before closing up. I can't climb on roof to sweep it clean, to scared.. My husband would, but most times I'm on my own with kids. I know some has used a step ladder with a leaf blower, I like that. But, how about covering after opening with something. I know you can buy and install covers, but I can't right now spend that kind of money :/

Ladder and blower or get on the roof. I believe, other than mounted toppers, that's about it.

They make covers (like awnings) for the tops of slide-outs, but you still need to clean them before you close it.. rain puddles, dust, dirt, leaves and bugs still get in between the cover and top of the slide out..

Get a small blower with an extension tube with a bent end (like the ones used for blowing out the rain gutters.. That should work for you... I just climb up on the roof with a broom.

I'm not fond of getting on the roof and DW won't. I used a 6' stepladder and a light, 'dollar store' broom to sweep my slide last year. I climbed the ladder at either the front or the rear of the slide (so I had a slide side and the trailer side close to me) and swept as far as I could reach. I then moved the ladder to the other side of the slide and finished the job.

We have a long bed pickup so taking the ladder is no trouble. There are compact ladders and some folks secure a stepladder to the trailer's ladder.
