Doors keyed alike

Why wouldn't the two outside entrance doors be keyed the same at the factory? I would prefer if they were. Does anyone know if this is something that a locksmith can do inexpensively? Is it something I can do myself?

I only have one door but I agree it would be convenient if they were keyed alike if you have two doors.

If I were to guess I would think it has more to do with the bolt action lock than the door handle lock.

I do know that if you "only" lock the entry door handle, there are master keys out there to open these (RV dealers have them). But if you lock the bolt action lock there aren't master keys for these. Of course the same "owners" key is mastered to open the handle and bolt lock on a specific door.

There may also be something to do with they way they are manufactured, and like Lee stated, not all TT's have two entry doors.

Just guessing, maybe someone knows the "real story"

We have a 2011 25RKS and it has two doors and there different keys for each door and it is a pain the DW put a red dot on bedroom door so she could tell them apart. It would be nice if they could be the same key.

The deadbolt & handle key are the same on each door but each door has it's own key. I checked with a locksmith & they couldn't key both doors the same so I bought new locks on ebay that are keyed the same.

Agreed, two different keys are a pain. I filed a notch in my main door key to help identify it. I'm guessing as the TT (or the doors themselves) is headed down the assembly line, there is a big bin with door locks in it and each door gets whichever lock happens to be on top. For the factory to put the same key coded latches on a TT, it would have to be done later in the process, after the doors have been installed. Just a guess.
Happy camping!

Worse

The Outside Kitchen and the front compartments are also keyed different. That means four different keys! (And now that the dealer found all four of mine, they want me to return the master.)

I understand that most people have the 751 key. Dadof4Girls said that his were all keyed different from the factory.

We have a 32BHDS, normal baggage doors have the typical CH751, but the large compartment on the back (now available as an outdoor kitchen) has the same type lock that is on the doors so I have 4 keys - one for each of the doors and the CH751 key for the baggage doors. Only thing they did right the serial numbers for the doors are in order. 33x for the baggace, 34x for the bathroom, and 35x for the main door.

I found a site not too long ago that sold door handles that could be keyed alike. I was going to get new handles for the front, back, and kitchen doors, but I never got around to it, and now I can't find the site! I'll report back if I come across it again. I'm VERY interested in doing this because I'm tired of having so many keys. I put a toolbox on my tongue, so I'm up to 5 keys!

I am going to put combination locks on my baggage doors and outside shower as the keys do not fit very well in mine. I need to play with them to get the keys in them.

Squirt a little graphite in them, or WD40. It will make a lot of difference.
