Drowned battery
Bought a new 34RSBS in mid January. With the weather and other things, never got to take the battery off for storage. Last week (about 8 weeks after purchase) starting to prep for first trip and the panel showed battery was d-e-a-d. OK, didn't think it would drain that quick but it has been really cold this winter.
Started to take the battery out of the enclosed standard case (plastic with latch cover and strap down) and when I opened it found the battery standing in water up to the edge of the case! How it got in I will never know, Took it out, poured about 4" of water out of the case, dryed it off and put it on the charger. 3 days now and its back to 70-80% charge. I have also drilled 6 holes in the bottom of the case for drainage. Any other suggestions???

had the same problem. found water in the box, got under and took a knife and put 4 holes in the bottom to drain the water and so it would not happen again. block head me went to far on one of the holes and went into the battery! had to buy a new battery, but at least I had holes in the bottom for any future water that might get in.

The holes would have been my suggestion.....but if you dont leave the unit plugged in, I would definitely take it out and put it on battery tender or equiv.

Yup, holes in the bottom is the trick. The paracitic drains (stereo, digital thermostat, co detector, television) will also drain your battery. If you leave it in place I'd suggest pulling the fuse, installing a batt disconnect or removing while stored.

Your battery may show that it is charged, but I would take it to a car parts store and have them check the specific gravity of the battery acid in each of the cells. When this happens, the battery usually will discharge rather fast rate when being used alone.

Same thing happened to me last summer except I realized it when my fuse for my jack got submerged and it shorted out. I drilled a hole in the bottom and haven't had any issues since.

Working on the RV today getting ready for maiden voyage next week. Went to check battery and box was full of water. Will get DH to drill holes in bottom. The 30 Amp fuse is to the jack I assume? Have learned so much from this forum.

Most battery cases have vent holes on the top to let any gasses/fumes out of the battery box. Unfortunately, they also seem very effective at letting rain water in.
I did as you did. Drilled a few holes in the bottom which solved the problem.
I second that idea of taking your battery in for a professional check up.

The 2 size 27 battery boxes I purchased from Camping World have raised vents in the covers, unlike the ones on the size 24 battery boxes that I originally had.

In my experience, the 30 amp should be the one for the camper. The one for the electric front jack is smaller, and can be a different type of fuse.
I have also drilled holes in the bottom of all my battery cases.
