Electric Awning - rust issues on the piston

Anyone experiencing rust on the pistons of their elec awning?

We just finished up a long Memorial Day Weekend. We went to extend the awniing, and the motor side hung up once again (mentioned in another thread). We had to push on the arm to get it to move. Once open, DH noticed that there was rust near the piston! When we go in for more warranty work, I will ask the tech about the brass shims mentioned in another thread. Otherwise, attached are pics of the rust.

Also, just wondering also if anyone regularily grease those pistons

We have also had some rust but as you read from my other post (electric awning getting stuck) we have had other issues too. My husband has cleaned up the rust and used something he uses on his wood working equipment called T-9 Boeshield. This has seemed to help. Our rust wasn't as bad as yours.

I'll check with Don and see if he's heard about T-9 Boeshield.

Talking

the web page is boeshield.com The only place we can find it locally is a Woodcraft store but i seen that camping world carries it . Be careful if you buy this product, men seem to get addicted to using it on EVERYTHING! It runs about $18 a can.

I have 2009 Jayco Jayflight, no rust so far, but probably a good idea to keep those pistons coated to protect them from rust
