Electric Supply Line in 2000 Kiwi

Unfortunately, we don't get out as much as would like; always bring the camper home; de-winterize, check it out and then it's ready to roll. Store it in a 'secured' lot. Went camping for the first time this year a few weeks back and went to plug in the electric supply line - it wasn't there! I thought it may have slipped inside the storage space so we took the cover off and nope, someone had pulled it out and cut it off. Now what to do? I don't want to spend alot of $$$ as am looking to the future and a new camper. . .any advise welcomed. How difficult a fix is this and do I order the part from Jayco or a dealer? Thanks in advance,

A replacement cord is not particularly expensive. Though, you may want to consider a detachable cord modification since the first step has been done for you.

Splicing a 30A cable is generally not done. Any competent RV service place will run the fresh cord all the way to the junction box. Or add a junction box if needed.

Any possible recourse with the not-so-secure storage facility? Take photos of the damage and see what they have to say.

I tried calling three times; knocked on the door; wife said he'd call me - never did. . . and I've always prepaid my rental!

Ok. So the storage place is not going to step up.

Do you know of more than just the dealer for getting repairs?

A couple of solutions you can do...
Just replace the cut RV cable with a new 30A 25-30 foot cord with molded RV 30A plug in the end... You will have to locate the 120VAC 120VAC Distribution Panel and wire this into the main 30A Breaker. It would not be a good idea to just splice the new molded cable and plug into the existing wiring that was cut off. having the stubby connector is great if you are ever going to run a cable to the generator setup or connecting a long 10-gauge 120V Extension cord to the garage 20AMP receptacle using a RV30A-15A adapter...

Another you can do if you have enough of 30A cable coming out of the door access door you can also connect an enclosed RV 30A SOCKET too.

You could easily then purchase a RV 30A MALE/FEMALE 25-foot extension Cord and just plug it into the short stubby connection. The beauty of this is you can store the extension cord in a safe place when not in use.

A better thing would be to install a RV30A RV Connector Socket in the access door hole and wir this to the 30A Circuit Breaker. Then you can purchase an RV30AMP cord that mates this socket and use it as well. Again the beauty is you can store this cable in safe location but is more difficult to inst...

Would look something like this

The kit looks like this...

Only three wires to hookup - can't be all that hard to do haha...

Good place for parts is AMAZON or ETRAILER.COM. Also most of the RV SALES stores have things like this on their shelves as well...

We live in Northern Neck Virginia not too far from the Potomac River Bridge - Closest big town is Fredericksburg VA... Haymarket would be just West of Washington DC on I66... Probably 50-60 miles from here the way the crow flies... Their big town would be Manassas... Love that place...

We like to keep things simple here as best we can...

Was thinking if you just replace the pull out cord maybe you can LOCK your access door with something after you pysh it all back inside the trailer... One of my photos i sent shows a simple door lock

Our local dealer had all of non-removable power cords stolen from his lot a few months ago. Thieves just cut them off leaving about 1 foot sticking out from the trailers. This is not the first time it has happened.

Thanks for your help Roy; quick question: I cannot find a diagram showing me the location of the distribution panel and how to access it; would you have any idea? I've purchased the new cable and am going to bring my Kiwi home tomorrow so we can go out this weekend. Thanks again,
