En-light-en me please

When we first bought our trailer, I wanted to put up a string of lights so we bought clips that are black plastic tabs with little s shaped hooks. After reading some posts here I decided that a) I did not want to have to remove them every time we rolled in the awning ( it gets windy here in Manitoba quite often) b) I now think I would rather not have so much light shinning and have just one nice lantern hanging. The problem is that I tried to slide the tab into the slot on the awning but it does not seem to go, am I missing something is there another attachment I have to purchase to go into the slot first? If anyone sees what I am missing... Please enlightened me thanks

Assuming you have your awning fully extended, you should see a channel in the end piece. Most of the hooks I've seen just slide in that channel from the right end (facing away from the trailer).

Is that what you see?

I only have a slot to put them towards the back of the camper. The front is blocked off.

Ha! Yeah that's what I meant. It's obvious the left side and right side of my brain are not co-operating. Just getting too excited about heading out for maiden trip tomorrow

It's weird how my post in response to yours showed up first. I figured you might not even notice it. Have fun on the trip!

Is the awning electric and you're trying to slide something in the "accessory" channel? The power stuff is in the way, you need to rotate the awning tube towards the top (yes you may need a ladder to reach) then the slot will become accessible and you can rotate the tube back down again, fun huh?

Slot in normal position:

Slot ready to slide things in. NOTE: You need to over extend the awning for access to this slot (extend fully and keep going until slot is accessable from top)
