Fiberglass protection

New fiberglass 5er.

Regular RV wash/ wax liquid combination stuff, or should we do anything special with the new exterior to help protect?

We bought a new 2014 Jayco Eagle and had the dealer put on the Teflon protection inside and out. The black stains and everything else just wash off (nothing attaches). It took them about an hour to do it. The outside goes on like wax but lasts for many years.

How much was this and can it be done to aluminum sided trailers?

Not sure the name. Call a Camping World dealer and ask. The teflon protection outside went on like wax and they sold it to us as an option as part of the Good Sam extended warranty. Our new camper is fiberglass. Our old camper was aluminum and it works on that as well. The teflon works really well on new surfaces but it is my understanding that if the surface is old and worn the dealer don't want to put the teflon protection on since they can't guarantee or be responsible for the results.

We use teflon polish that is sold by both Atwood and Starbrite. It seems about the same from either company. I've used it on our boats for years as we get very bad staining from tannic acid in the local waters. Both also produce a "hull cleaner" with oxalic acid as a primary ingredient. I gets rid of rust and other stains very quickly. Just wipe it on and let it sit for a few minutes. I've started seeing recently in Walmart.
