fifth wheel hitches

In a previous post I talked about my problems with a Reese 20,000 pivot hitch. We have decided to replace it with something else. We only need a 16,000 lb. What are people using and are there issues. We have a 09 GMC Duramax with a 6.6 box and do not currently use the slider hitch. We do have the clearance. Recommendations anyone??

thanks in advance

Using a Curt Q24 , very pleased, no issues. Bought at Amazon warehouse deals (torn box) for $449 shipped to my house.

I love my B&W Set up, the companion hitch is very easy to use. And in the winter time I have a nice flat truck bed. it is a little pricey because of the two parts but well worth it for me.

Using a Husky 16KW and I am very pleased with it. I started with a 16KS but due to some of the places I park our camper I needed a true 4 way rocker with a wrap jaw to keep the pin from binding.

We're using a Reese 16K Signature Series, pulling 11,000 lb Designer 5er. Absolutely no issues, not even chucking. Very pleased.

I would humbly suggest that there is probably nothing wrong with your hitch!! It is probably your technique of releasing!! What you are experiencing is not new. Have been around numerous folks that are having the same issue. You have put pressure on the jaws in your unhooking cycle!!! Put your legs down but don't apply down pressure. Put your truck in neutral with your brakes off. Now pull your lever!!!! It should release. Now raise your trailer.
