An RV Electrical Management System protects your trailer and all the electronics from surges, spikes, and damaging conditions from faulty shore power supplies in campgrounds. I've provided a link to a very good model for 50 amp. They also make them for 30 amp. They aren't cheap, but just consider it cheap insurance - compared to the kind of damage that can occur.

I plug mine into the shore power pedestal before I unhitch. When plugged in, it will tell you if there are any problems with the power supply. If there is, I move to another site. It will also protect from low voltage (which can damage your A/C) and other dangerous conditions.
You can have them hard-wired into your trailer, but then it's a pain to remove when you trade. However, the portable can be stolen. So it's a personal decision as to which way you go. I chose portable - I've never had anything stolen in a campground.
