Food storage

Hi All, new TT guy here.

My question is regarding storing food for the summer in your TT. We are moving up from a popup, where we always just stored our food in bins that we loaded and unloaded back home every trip. Now that we have some permanent cabinets to use, is there food that is good to keep inside (in the heat) and others to avoid?

Can brown sugar, rice, oatmeal, etc. dry goods be left (in proper sealed containers)?

Just beware of mice. I see no problem.

I would be warry of storing any type of grain product in a hot storage environment for long periods of time--even in secure metal, hard plastic or ceramic storage containers they are subject to weevils and other insects that have tiny eggs/larvae. Corn meal and wheat flour are particularly succeptible. Mice can eat through soft plastic containers as well as plastic bags. You may want to place sealed packages of mouse poison in those places in your trailer where mice are most likely to gain entrance as well as anywhere mice may find something to eat.

We leave some canned foods in our tt. Mainly enough to last for three days (part of our 3day preparedness plan in case of earthquake, etc). We don't get severe heat or extreme cold in our neck of the woods though, but we do get mice/rats! So we don't store any packaged goods in there
