For Those Who Park TT at Home

Do you generally clean (I mean washing floors and wiping everything down really well) at your campsite before heading home or do you wait until you get home? We usually sweep and wipe things down a little at the campsite but I wash the floors and do a more thorough cleaning at home. Our last trip was so busy with activities that I never even got to sweep! We always bring perishable items like milk, meat, bread, etc. into the house after every trip even though we keep the TT plugged in and the fridge on at home.

I haven't run across a campground that encourages trailer washing and cleaning on site. Usually from what we have experienced its a no no.
We have to traverse dirt roads to get home. It doesn't make sense to me to wash at camp.. the trailer is still stocked with goods.. At home I can unload everything and get a good cleaning in.. and I do have access to a hose.

At camp.. the only water we may have is in our fresh water tank..

I suspect everyone has a different circumstance. no room at home RVs not permitted at home etc. but we live in the woods and can do whatever we want on our acreage.

we have made a practice of cleaning up the interior as part of take down prep. the little 212 QBW doesn't take much time. Clean up everything inside. then we just remove food and dirty clothes and linens when we get home and were done. I do the exterior at home.

DW thoroughly cleans the inside of the trailer at the campground before leaving.
This includes:
Cleaning the bathroom (shower, sink, toilet, & floor).
Vacuuming carpeting (We bought a Shark Vacuum for the trailer)
Wiping down the kitchen floor & counters.

We also carry an extra set of sheets, so we change the sheets at the campground.
Then once home the dirty sheets are washed and put back in the trailer before the next trip.

We have a 72hr limit of having the RV at home.
So once home, we unload cloths & food, wash the outside and then return to the trailer to the storage area.

That's what we do.

We do all the heavy cleaning at home. That's mopping, deep cleaning the counter tops, shower, toilet, etc. As soon as we get home, we unload all the perishables and food, and launder the sheets and towels.

If we're staying at the beach or for more than 2 nights we'll haul along our Dyson cordless stick vac to keep it livable during the trip (we DO have a dog AND a toddler!)

But we're generally clean people, so we tend to keep a pretty tidy ship while under way. The counters and table get wiped down after meals during the standard clean-up process. If there's a spill or a mess, we tend to clean it (and usually a bit more) immediately. So there's really not much to do as far as cleaning goes when we get home. Except for perhaps the fridge, and possibly mopping/polishing the floor.

DW does all the inside cleaning and I help by shaking what ever she throws out the door. I store mine at home so all the outside washing is done at home.

Every so often we have a blitz dusting and wiping of all the cabinets and flat surfaces. Love those disposable dust cloths. Not really!

We do everything at home. Have plenty of room and a 30 amp outlet to plug into.

Dump waste and FW tanks. Discard the trash. Pull home.


Any and all cleaning, repairs and laundry can be done at home with much less fuss and bother than out in the wilderness.

Usually mild cleaning of the inside before we leave the campsite.

While we don't store our trailer at our house, it is only about 10 minutes away at my wife's grandmother's house. But usually a major cleaning is at our house either before or after a trip, depending on what time allowed when we got home the last trip.

My wife has a $25 or so corded stick vac she bought for the trailer. Even the boys will vacuum the bunk room mid trip when they feel it's needed!

We generally do a quick inside cleaning while packing up and then a more thorough cleaning after we get home.

Like many here, the coach is cleaned when we get home. If we have traveled a long way to get home on the last day, we will also consider dumping and cleaning the takes at home (home dump site).

Where we usually go is only about three hours away from home. We have a pad beside the house with a 30 amp outlet so we just tow home, take the trailer and dump after we drop our boat off at the house and then park the FW and clean it out. Since this week was probably out last trip for a while, we emptied the fresh water and hot water tanks, took all the food out, washed the sheets, blankets and comforter. We will then clean the outside and inside, when the weather gets a bit better. Right now, it's totally overcast with temp around 54 degrees so not a lot of outside stuff right now. Back to the original question, we usually wait until we get home to clean anything up as we have room at the house to do so at our leisure.

I am always at home when in my TT, so I clean whenever needed.

we do our cleaning at campground inside and sweeping .... I cant clean outside there so I clean it at my shop when we do have it there .... we live in a culdesac so no way it will see our house
