IMHO if your in a campground and need 4wd to get around your some wher you shouldn't be.
Yep, my truck has the G80 locker from GM. In my case, on the frosted grass I was spinning both rear tires and this is with over 1200 lbs of tongue weight and an A/T tire.

Just thinking about my first PU. Early '70's and an old Chevy (60's?) 3 on the tree. Got stuck in the snow and an old guy came up and said,"put her in second kid." I did an off I went.

Next spring, tried to get stuck in mud. In second gear, I do not think it was possible to spin the tires. Just an old memory for our 'senior' posters.

regards, Dave.

Wow, I'd completely forgotten about using 2nd in the snow, on hills or in a hole to reduce spin. Times change.

I had a 77 Ford F100 with 3 on the tree (that`s three speed manual on the steering column for the younger folks who have never seen or heard of one.) 300 inline 6. My first truck.

Thats right!Mine was a 6 cylinder as well. Probably why it was about impossible to spin those tires.

Fond memories indeed.

My first truck was a gift from my grandfather. 1955 ford half ton with a mighty 6 and three on the tree. It didn't even have a radio.
