As for materials, I like POR 15. As for anything you put on the rusty metal, if you do not do the prep work, it will come back.
I will take a picture sometime this week and post it.

That is unacceptable on a new unit, I would be dissatisfied as well. Mine is over 6 years old and has no rust to speak of, I did touch up the Aframe a couple years ago with black Rustoleum. But I`ve never towed it on salty roads and it was delivered in October so no salt there either.

And I was moaning about a few small spots where they welded. To me it looks like that metal was not properly prepared prior to painting. I would send a few pictures to Jayco and see what they say. service@jayco.com

Wow! Not what I was expecting. I was thinking a few blemishes. I would be upset.

Frame Rust

That can be fixed. 8 months old? I would certainly expect this to be covered under warranty. Have you seen what it looks like above the enclosure?

Our 2012 has one spot of rust on the step. Been there since new, and has not grown.

I use a Rust Encapsulator. It chemically reacts with the rust and renders it inert. Drys to a nice hard finish and makes application easy. There are a lot of companies that sell similar products but I trust Eastwood to provide a superior product.

Good news, Jayco has agreed to pay for rust removal and re-painting of my frame. I continue to be impressed with their warranty service.

I was under my 4 yr old TT today and I have minimal rust under it. There is some on the axle and a little on the frame by the axles....all cosmetic which I will address in the Spring when I prep it for a new season 😄

I do mostly beach camping. Every other year I give it a quick sand and undercoat the entire frame.

Well, I am extremely disappointed to report that Jayco backed out and would not approve my dealer to repaint my frame. This is after waiting for 2 months to get an appointment at my dealer and previously getting a written statement from Jayco that they would pay the dealer to repaint my frame. Apparently Jayco forwarded the claim to Lippert and they refused to cover the cost so Jayco refused too. The email from Lippert states "rust on the frame is considered normal and will not affect the integrity of the frame" Total BS.......

From my Note 5

Por 15 works well.,very expensive though. Remember that it has to topcoafted after it drys to protect it from UV rays.

Up here in the land of ice and snow (and salt) I use a product called Krown oil spray on all my vehicals. I plan on giving the frame on my used trailer a coating in the fall. Keep it away from any rubber though as it might swell some rubber materials.

It surprised me that they would agree to this in the first place. If they repainted yours there would be a very long line for others to be repainted because they all rust.
