Fresh Water Hose

Does anyone have any great ideas to store your fresh water hose? Seems like its a pain to wind up and they unravil in the storage compartment. I know you can get a hose reel (like ones for your house) but those aren't very practical for a camper. Thanks in advance for any ideas posted.

I have a neat little gizmo that helps me wrap my hose. It is shaped like an 8. You slide the rubber "8" down your hose a couple of feet. The further you slide the "8" down the hose the bigger your coil of hose will be. You put the end of the hose through other end of the "8" making a loop of hose. Then you go hand over hand around the coil of hose, making more coils with as you go. It is hard to type this so you understand it, but it is really simple to do. After the hose is coiled I put 2 Velcro wraps around the hose to hold the coil together.

The hose holder/coil helper looks sort of like this image or a snorkel keeper for a diver.

We use a product called cable cuffs. They are reusable and great for coiling your hoses and extension cords.

Cable cuffs will hold the hose once you have it coiled, but the thing I use helps you coil the hose so that it is all one size, and it only takes a minute to coil the hose. You could use the cable cuffs to keep the coiled hose from coming unwrapped.

Here is a link to the item I use. It is called a "coil and wrap". They make them for water hoses, electrical cord, tv cable, etc.

I can not get a nice wrap using my hand and elbow. I have tried that many times and the hose is not "nice" when I get done.:hihi:

I've used a CordPro XL for many years to store my water hose. I also use one to store my 30A extension cord and the smaller CordPro 100 for my coax cable.

I simply coil the hose (same size coils) and screw the ends together. The coils always stay nicely in place, and it's easy to get out at the next campground.

I use two Rubbermaid type containers with lids (one for the white drinking water hoses, one for garden hose) that are sized large enough to coil the hose(s) inside. I also keep all the hose related hardware (nozzles, adapters, pressure regulator, etc. in the corresponding box too. The boxes are somewhat clear so I can easily see which box has which hose(s). With the lids on, there's no way the "snakes" can escape and they remain nicely coiled until needed.

I do the same, but use only 1 container. Always screw the ends of the hose together to keep things from going inside.

Thanks everyone, sounds like there is a lot of different ways. What i'm doing now is coiling it by hand and screwing the ends together but the hose isn't very pliable so it just uncoils once it's in the storage area. I'm gonna try to use the cordpro as i'm looking for some type of reel.

Good choice.

You will be be pleased.

The CordPro XL will hold 50' of water hose. You only need to unreel as much as needed to reach.

I coil the hose inside a 5 gal bucket, then throw the other "water" accessories in the middle (regulator, inline filter, elbow, etc.) and pop on the top. The bucket has come in handy over the past 2 years, especially as a stool for attaching the PUGs.

Use an over-under gaffers coil. Throw it and it unwinds straight. Never kinks. I'm still using garden hoses that my parents bought in 1976.

Thanks for the name of this maneuver. I've been doing this for years but I never knew the name. Haha

I just coil them up in small coil and use a velcro strap to hold them together and stor them in plastic tub in front compartment. I use two 25' hoses as sometimes one is enough
