Question Front of TV bike rack

Does anyone here have a bike rack that mounts to the front of your vehicle?

I use a Thule bike rack on the front of my van. It uses a 2'' receiver hitch. I have carried more than 2 bikes there but I don't like to.

One consideration when using the rack on front is the wind resistance, which tends to push the bottom of the bikes back toward the vehicle. You need to strap them in that position prior to hitting the road.

You can see a picture in my album, Boss Wagon's Album, to see the mount.

We used a front rack on our 2003 Chev last winter and have put one on the 2012 this winter. Last year we used a 2 bike rack that hung the bikes from the frame. That was a real pain since the bikes swung with the wind. Spent too much time tying them down every time we moved.

Now we have a Swagman 2 bike rack. The wheels sit in carriers and the frames are held in place with slide down clamps. It works great. The bikes don't get marked and they cannot swing around. Oval tubes are no problem to hold secure. Loading the bikes is also easier than with the hang style rack.

So far we've used this rack Ontario to Cape Bretton in the Maritimes, back to Ont. and now to the FL/GA border. Highly recommended.

I have studied on your rack and believe it is the way to go on the front. It is not only easier to secure but it appears to hold the bikes lower.

I use a Thule 4 bike carrier on the front of my Tundra with a front receiver hitch. The only down side, is I need to drop the hitch to take off the skid plate to change the oil. I love having that rack up there, it really frees up a ton of bed space. I don't have any trouble with the bikes moving, but I get a lot of funny looks pulling into some campgrounds.

How did you install the front receiver?

Yes, I used the Curt receiver. Holes were already there, and easy to mount.

Good idea, been looking for a bike rack solution. This may be it.

This is a repost of mine re: My Curt front mount hitch receiver

Curt seems to make a good product but they missed the design on my front mount hitch for my E-350. As you can see in the pictures their design was off just a tad.

They seemed concerned and I spoke with an engineer on the phone after I sent them the same pictures. Their solution was on the cheap side, to send me 4 spacers; however, I had already fabbed my own before they arrived.
