Gas Hot Water Heater

During our shakedown weekend in our 24 MBH, we experienced both full hookups and dry camping. During dry camping I switched hot water over to gas, while out at the fire, I noticed a small burst (visible flame) come out of gas Hot Water cover when it ignited, is this normal?

Yeah, it can happen. the rush of gas doesn't ignite for a second or two. Massive explosion inside the combustion tube!

Try listening to the thing cycle just below the open bedroom window as you are dropping off to sleep.
