I ordered the 3500 watt genny with my Octane 273. Anyone know how many hours I can expect it to run on a tankful? Would be nice to have it last the night. If it won't has anyone ever piped in from the fuel station?
Rick, genny run time is based on the given load. If it has an eco feature and only running lights, heater fan, it'll run a long time depending on the tank size. Powering the AC/microwave,etc, it won't be very long in comparison.
What make and model? For instance, I have a Honda 2000 and in eco mode it will run about 9 hours on a single tank of gas...but running at full power, only about 3 or 4 hours.
Check the manufacturers website for the owners manual. For ex Onan lists the various consumption rates for some different loads. You can do a rough calculation from that.
Everyone always wants to get a generator on their new trailers. I guess you are aware that you may not be able to operate your generator at most of the public camp grounds on the East side of the USA as they will have generator run time restrictions in place to honor quiet times for the campers. These are generally from 8AM-10AM and then again from maybe 4:30PM to 8PM each day. Even the Natl Forest places have generator run time restrictions in place. Some National Forest may have a 8AM to 8PM time where you can run a generator but you will never be allowed to run one all night. There are some private places that will allow it like NASCAR etc... Private land like fishing camps and dispersed camping places may allow it anytime... You need to check where you will be camping to find out what is allowed.
Pulling off the road on trips, or Walmart Parking lots, or other private places may allow it anytime.
Just passing alone in case you wasn't aware of the general restrictions that may be in place.
Out West these restrictions are less due to the wide open spaces and more dispersed camping is allowed as well...
Since we camp most of the time on the East side of the country we only have the generator to re-charge our battery banks when camping off the power grid and allowed to run the generator. My trailer is beefed up battery wise to run most of the 120VAC appliances from an inverter and DC appliances directly from the batteries. Having it all planned out to drop my installed battery bank to around its 50% charge state around 8AM the next morning so that I can quickly get them re-charged back to their 90% charge state in a three hour time using smart mode charging techniques when allowed to run my generator...
Just saying...
